Good breakfast and location right beside train station.

Terrible check in at midnight after a 15 hour journey. Line of strange guests buying take out coffees and the sole reception guy had to serve them. Bizarre. Check in guy decided he’d speak to me in pigeon English. It didn’t work. We spoke French was fine. Breakfast was basic but fresh and fine. Second stay here. Will stay again if need a bed near the station overnight. No good for more than 1 night.

We should not have booked a hotel near the train station. We felt unsafe in the alleyways and streets around the hotel. There are no French restaurants in the area because the restaurants reflect the diversity of people who migrated to Marseilles.

This hotel is in a new ownership, new improvements for elevator, hallway,and room conditioning.

Hotel location excellent as opposite the train & bus station. Also friendly & helpful check-in staff.

This property just changed ownership no longer in Holiday Inn Express group. It is in a repair period. I booked a room with balcony, but was told not available. Instead,they gave me a room,the bathroom sink was leaking. No handyman came, they gave me a lot of towels put on bathrooms floor. I just had 2 long day flights back to Marseille, very exhausted, no energy to argue with them. Of course not happy. Until I checked out (2 day stays), no one came to repair..

We could not find the hotel because the name has changed. It is no longer Holiday Inn Express. We had not been notified by email. We wasted an hour in the afternoon heat searching and finally found it. See photo. Our first room had a cracked sink and the safe was not working (photos). The manager was sympathetic and offered a different room with a noisy air conditioner. Our third room was fine except that the sink was cracked, the safe didn't work and there was black mold on the bathroom walls and shower glass (photos). This room later developed a noisy air conditioner. Breakfasts were typical Holiday Inn Express format and good. The white vertical pole in this area was filthy (photo) and some seats were ripped (photo). Bed linens were very good. We felt the area is not safe at night. There is spray-painted graffiti everywhere outside the hotel and in many places throughout the city. There is a good grocery store next to the hotel. Very handy to have the train station and bus station across the street. Avoid the laneway to the right down the street from this hotel. There are areas of piled garbage, men in doorways and garbage on the streets. We hope that the new owners of this hotel will do a thorough renovation. This is the first time in many years of travelling that we have encountered problems at a major hotel.

Good location. Good value. Breakfast included. Right across from the train station. Only complaint is that there are few restaurants around.

Location and staff

This hotel is not belonging to Holiday Inn Express anymore. Now management locked all safe boxes. Guests are not allowed to use it. But on there website still listed safe box in room. My room sink was blocked before I checked in, I reported to front desk immediately, no one came. Until evening I insisted to change a room. The young lady in front desk was not reliable.

Convenient for the train passengers, but nothing is really special in the area, even no decent restaurants around.

Very basic accommodation. Clean beds and bathroom. No fridge in the room.

Great location for a short stay in Marseille. Staff was amazing and hotel was very quite and clean.
