The staff at the hotel were lovely. We were out of season so it was very quiet and breakfast was buffet and cold. The room was very overlooked and so we kept the curtains shut the entire time. We picked this place because I thought it was convenient for Pompei, but it was still 30-45 minutes drive away. Dining options in the neighbourhood were scarce (probably as out of season) and opened late. However Bifulco opposite is great for burgers and they even made a vegetarian option for me!

I would score it 6 out of 10... I would definetly not call it a 4 star hotel... 3 stars at best... The pictures on the website is very misleading, with regard the breakfast buffet, room size... The TV's in the rooms must be older than 10-12 years. Breakfast very limited and the same every day, with no alternatives

Am a regular customer of this hotel. Had a pleasant stay, nice breakfast, clean, however I do suggest that bathrooms are refurbished.

Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. However we needed to leave the window opened for a while due to the permanent rotten-egg smell coming from the bathroom.

I enjoyed my stay. I am a regular visitor since I have family and friends living nearby. However I would suggest that the hotel embarks on some referbishment like the bathrooms and furniture. No big deal but I think it would be more attractive. On the whole I will return back.

Booked this room the day before our arrival. Hotels.com described this as a 4 star hotel with a great last minute rate. We settled in our room before I noticed a LOT of black in the shower stall. I told the person at the front desk on our way out for dinner knowing that someone else before me must of complained. He came up, looked and assured me it was caulking--it was not. He offered to change our room but we did not want to repack/move so I just did not take a shower. The room had a king bed and was comfortable. I needed to unplug the tv to charge my phone. We received a great tip for where to have pizza for dinner without driving, from the same front desk clerk then sat in the nearby square eating gelatto after dinner which was lovely. Breakfast was ok.

Room was very small for the three of us, there wasn't any room to move. The room looked old and in need of an update. The bathroom wasn't much better with black molding around the tub/shower. Breakfast wasn't great compared to the other hotels we stayed at in Italy. The coffee wasn't good and there wasn't much of a variety of food to choose from.

Hotel Augustus may have been grand during the reign of Augustus but it has deteriorated. Black mold/mildew forms a thick fuzzy less than artistic line around the base of the shower. That said, the a/C and wifi work great and the bed was comfortable.

I was a little bit disappointed because of the bathroom. It needs a refurbishment. But on the whole it was ok.

We stayed here 1 night enroute to Sorrento. Room was very small, beds were hard and uncomfortable but seems all of italy has hard beds. Breakfast was basic but ok and we did get cappucinos made for us. Staff were friendly

First off all, the hotel was quite easy to find even though Ottaviano is not a tourist area, there are signs all around the town that point you in it's direction although it is up quite a steep bank so be careful of heavy luggage. The location has a great view of Vesuvius(Although you cannot climb it from Ottaviano, you need to get a shuttle or travel to the national park) and it is about 10 minutes away from the train station. There is a banco de napoli(local bank) down the street aswell as a shop. The hotel is quite small but has a bar and on-suite bathrooms. I stayed in a twin room and had new bedding and towels every day. The room was quite small, but it had air-conditioning which was really nice(It was hot at night). It's not a luxury hotel as you would be expecting in England but it is very comfortable and inviting. The staff were really helpful and speak enough English to get you by, they helped us out a number of times when we didn't know where to go around the area.

We only stayed at this hotel for one night which was convenient for us. A little bit difficult to get to if driving through the little surrounding streets. The surrounding area is a little bit crazy but not terrible. Delicious pizza nearby. The front desk was very helpful - breakfast was fairly good - room and bathroom clean. No complaints!

The building adjacent to the hotel is a dilapidated building and the surrounding area is not a place I'd feel comfortable walking in. The rooms look like they had not been updated since the 70's and the "air-conditioning" was just about non-existent. The rate for the hotel was really good, so perhaps I should have seen this coming, but there is no way, no way, this is a 4 star hotel as it was advertised. And because of the star rating I felt this hotel was mis-represented.
