A respectful family run hotel that is friendly and homely, not too small and not too big. Great views. Swimming pool. Peaceful. Food could be improved, thats the only down side, but the staff make up for it!

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised during our stay at Hotel Hermitage. From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. We were allowed to check in earlier, which was a wonderful start to our stay. The room was lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast the next morning. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, making us feel right at home. The hotel is conveniently located close enough to downtown Florence, yet still on the outskirts, allowing us to enjoy the beautiful Tuscan landscapes. We will definitely choose to stay at Hotel Hermitage again during our next visit to Florence!

We had stayed at this hotel about 5 years prior and had a nice experience, but this time we were very disappointed. Overall the hotel has an older, unique vibe, but there were issues. The "air conditioning" did not work well at all and the room was extremely hot. I noticed other patrons complaining of this as well. The cleaning staff also used a very strong cleaner in our room and it smelled awful, making it difficult to sleep. Overall, really disappointed in this experience as the hotel was nice in the past, and is located in a very beautiful part of the town.

Well situated on the hill, not far from the crowded Firenze, but close enough to other services and the highways (Pisa-Livorno, Bologna-Venezia, Roma). The swimming-pool is a plus we have most enjoyed. Nice people at the front-desk and at the Breakfast service. There is a gelateria just down the road, a big deal for locals who go there even late at 10 p.m. to gather and to taste the sweet flavors.

The room was clean and comfortable with lovely views from our balcony. The swimming pool was clean and delightful in the 34 degrees heat!! Food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was delicious. The staff are friendly, polite and so helpful. The bus stop is a 10 minute walk which you then get a tram into Florence. If I come back to Tuscany I will definitely stay at this hotel.

No beverage or slippers like in the photo—perhaps for a more pricey suite. The hotel is a bit dated and the room had a vintage smell that required the room to be aired out every day. The AC did not perform well—seem to only have one speed—would make a lot if difference in terms of coziness. The bathroom has a tiny shower—no bruises but I did bump into things often. Also, the bathroom initially only had one towel, has very little space for toiletries and a noisy ventilation fan.

Although the employee was great and tried to be as helpful as possible. There were bed bugs, pseudoscorpions and blood stains on the bed sheets. Another room was offered but low and behold, while inspecting it, another bed bug was spotted and this time I showed the employee. Although I have picture evidence of everything, I was still not given any compensation or refund for this booking. I left shortly after waking up itchy in the middle of the night and did not even use my entire stay. The property also has lots of damage on the walls that have not been maintained and what seemed to be mould growing from behind the bed from moisture. I would not recommend.

The staff were beyond helpful, Leo gave us places to go and check out and another staff member helped us rent a car, the owner I think her name is Beatrice she was so helpful and kind. Everyone here was super attentive and made this place feel very homey. Would absolutely come back if not for Leo alone. Absolute gem of a hotel and gem of people.

The Hermitage must have seen better days when families took long holidays in small towns/villages. Today, it is a place with mixed occupancy: some blue-collar workers, few business people, visitors from abroad linking up with relatives living in the area, and very few holiday guests. The room I had was nice, clean, with appropriate furniture including a reasonable bed - except a better desk would have added a lot to the functionality. The wireless internet was stable and working well. In the time I was there (August) many services were not offered and the restaurant was closed on several days - which is a problem because the town is small with very few options for lunch or dinner - and in August most of them are closed, too. The TV had several hundred stations, but I found only one in English. Most of the staff was very friendly and trying to help, but unfortuantely not all. The breakfast was very basic - and I have had better ones in many other Italian hotels aspiring to be at the same level as the Hermitage. Having better coffee would have been great - the aftertaste of the machine-made coffee was not very pleasant.

We went to this hotel with the full intention of using this hotel as a base and travelling to different areas using our hire car each day. If that's what you are looking for this hotel is ideal. The location is nice and quiet, a good base to head out to Pisa, Lucca, Florenece, Pistoia etc. Check was quick and easy. Our room was basic but clean and comfortable, nothing flash but that's not what we wanted anyway. The pool area is small but well maintained and with a nice pool. The breakfast is basic but has a decent selection when you consider the rooms are not expensive and the breakfast is included in the price. The evening restaurant served nice food and we found it to be good value for money, although service from one of the waitresses was a little slow! Around the corner from the hotel was a gorgeous Fish and Seafood restaurant and a lovely café/cake shop a short walk away. A cleaner came in each day and all the staff were polite, helpful and courteous. If you don't have a car or are looking for a hotel to lounge in with a bit of luxury then this probably isn't the hotel for you. If however you want a nice, comfortable base while on your travels that won't break the bank then this hotel fits the bill.
