Beautiful and charming old hotel in the middle of the countryside with a poolside loggia covered in Wisteria and Mock Orange in bloom. We loved it!

My review will help to take informed choice: please read. The value for money is very poor: min you, you pay for a beautiful country side view. You also need to pay separately for internet if you want to use it. We stayed there 2 nights: there wasn't any attempt to clean our room/ no fresh towels offered. Main problem is dampness and 'cellar feel' of the rooms. The rooms are pretty and decorated well but you cannot take a shower or just touch the toilet seat: it was freezing! The was no radiator in the bathroom. Maybe on a hot summer day it can be a good retreat in the middle of nowhere, but the spring time however is very uncomfortable and almost impossible. With temperature of 20C outside we had to keep the doors open to let some warmer fresh air in: the room stunk of a damp cellar. The bedclothes had to be put on radiators to dry before we could go to bed. All 3 of us were beaten by bedbugs. Reception service was poor, we were stressed out on our arrival as the lady couldn't remember our bookings nor e-mailing me. Before the arrival, we spent hours driving, trying to locate the place and even satnav didn't help: we had to ask several local people for directions (each one was very helpful). We had to depart in the morning but at 4am neither of us could sleep: it was very uncomfortable and you could hear all the noises from people getting up in other rooms, pipes whaling etc - so we just decided to go. We spent several hours in the airport waiting for our flight but it was a bliss in comparison to staying any longer in those beds.

1. Spent ages locating it - maps and navigator didn't help. 2. Very poor management and unacceptable welcome - the owner tried to turn us away even after we showed our booking printout - she had no idea of our reservation. 3. The room was so cold and damp the like a cellar! We tried to explain that we need heating on - still we couldn't shower as there was no radiator in the bathroom! It was like inside a fridge. 4. Our ground floor room had no windows, only doors facing a staircase to other rooms: no privacy! We tried to keep the doors open for some fresh air as the room stunk of a damp old barn (and it was much warmer outside!) but other guests could see right inside. 5. BED BUGS!!! We had lots of bites! 6.For the stone cottage the walls seem to be made from paper! You could hear everything! 7. Prior to my arrival I made a special request about beds, which was ignored. The only good thing is its surrounding - beautiful Italian countryside in the middle of nowhere - which is obviously no credit to hotel itself.
