This hotel had so much charm, with its unique and quaint rooms. The outdoor garden is absolutely beautiful and you can even get up onto the old wall from the back of the property. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. It was a little stuffy in our room when we got there, but that was nothing an open window and fan couldn't fix. I would 100% stay here if I were ever to visit York again.

I cannot recommend the hotel high enough, everything was fabulous. I was most impressed with the attentiveness and care all the staff provided, thank you.

Stunning venue, perfectly located. We had a fabulous weekend staying in the Fairfax room. Before the weekend was even over, we rebooked to return in September. Highly professional staff and stunning cuisine. Our new favourite place.

Stunning historical hotel in the heart of York. Like living in another time. Everything about this place is amazing. We could easily have spent our entire York stay in the hotel but there is so much to see and do in York. I really hope that we can return to this hotel one day.

Hotel was wonderful. Unique. Our bathroom was on a second floor from the bedroom. We had to climb a narrow spiral staircase to get to it. Once u got used to the stairs it wasnt a big deal in the middle of the night. Would definetely stay there again.

The property is very old and absolutely lovely, but with all the updates needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

What really made this hotel excel was the delightful and helpful staff. We even met the owner who was a really hands on person when it came to helping guests. The location is amazing- right by the Minster. Beautiful gardens.

The property was arguably in the best location in York and an absolute delight. I won’t be staying anywhere else in future.

This is a Jewel! Go to the Garden, enjoy the 600 year old experience. Everything was at it's highest level!! You get to check in early if your room is ready. Our room had a view of the cathedral. The staff is super friendly. Just entering the Hotel via an ancient cobble stone path is so cool!!

What a fun stay in York! We were pleasantly surprised to have convenient parking right in the heart of town. A gorgeous property with a lovely room and comfortable bed. We could easily walk to the Minster, Shambles and City Wall with no problem. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent as were all the staff we met. They made sure our stay was completely comfortable.
