The Hammock is typical of small, newish lower mid-range boutique hotels common in Thailand these days. Rooms are as shown in the pix and are located in four rows fairly close together behind the beachfront. The property is not large, but it is leafy enough. The pool is small, but fine for kids as it has a shallow pool separated by a submerged wall from the not very deep main pool. The restaurant is comfortable, but I was wary of the menu prices, especially of the 600ml bottle of water they wanted to charge me 50 baht for (USD 1.70), when I could get same for around 10 baht in a local convenience store (shops and plenty of restaurants are within a very short walking distance of the hotel). That said, having asked them how much they charged for the water before they opened it and having declined to accept it, the waitress brought me a glass of chilled water free of charge to go with the lunch I had ordered. It was a nice detail in a service that was consistently friendly and helpful. I was happy to give the 40 baht as a tip. The buffet breakfast (fruits, muesli-cereals, yoghurt, eggs on demand and cooked Thai food) was not bad for this price-point. Best, perhaps was the 35m or so of beachfront itself, which consists of a raised area with beach loungers/umbrellas beneath a large tree—perfect for those who want to laze in the shade and look at the parade of people passing along the beach below. There is room enough on the sandy foreshore — the hotel puts out cushions etc — for guests who want to cook themselves in sun oil. If I had to criticise something, then, it was that there was no towel rail in either the bathroom or bedroom—a towel rack is located on the balcony outside the room, however. So yes, the Hammock can be recommended.
