We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Quinta de la Rosa. The views over the Douro Valley are absolutely beautiful and made for a very relaxing experience. We loved the onsite restaurant and spending time at Tim’s Terrace, both of which made the most of the stunning surroundings. The wine tour and tasting were a highlight, with knowledgeable staff and excellent wines. The property was clean, quiet, and peaceful throughout our stay. A wonderful place to unwind and experience the beauty of the Douro Valley.

We had a great stay. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast. Walked to river for kayak and boat tour. Great wines. Pool was great on a hot day. Very clean and comfortable. Parking was tight. Need small car. There were some stairs to our room if that matters.

We recently stayed at Quinta de la Rosa for three nights, having started our holiday in Porto. We took the train from Porto, which is a lovely way to enjoy the Douro Valley. On arrival we were able to get a taxi from outside the station and 10 minutes later were at the Quinta. Descriptions suggest this is not a hotel but rather a rustic retreat but it is carefully curated and standards are pretty high. Our suite overlooked the river and was very comfortable and quiet. There are apparently 20 rooms on site but, apart from the restaurant at breakfast or in the evening, it never felt as though there were lots of people around though people are arriving and departing all the time. It is the perfect base for a couple of days to really soak up the atmosphere of this part of the Douro Valley and a trip on the train from Pinhao to Pochino is a great way to spend a few hours as it becomes even more picturesque further along the river. There are a number of port wine houses offering tastings (Quinta das Carvalhas across the bridge in town is well worth a visit for a relaxed tasting). Pinhao itself is rather disappointing given the numbers of visitors who pass through, with facilities rather limited and few places to eat. But don't let that detract from the Quinta, which is a little oasis of calm.

We stayed 3 nights at the adjacent building Casa Amarela and we knew ahead of time that there would be steps to access the room- not a problem with that. However, our room is about a 5-6 minute walk from the reception and the main restaurant—not a problem unless you have luggage—- as the walk is a bit hilly. On arrival our luggage was brought to Casa Amarela via a golf cart- not us- luggage only and that helped. Upon departure they completely refused to transport the luggage to the reception to check out and wait for the taxi. The first taxi I called said he couldn’t pick us up at Amarela, only at the reception. I had to cancel this taxi and request another one thru the hotel that would get all the way where I was. I was told 15-20 minutes for the taxi. It took 30 minutes without any update from the front desk. I had to call twice to check on the status. It was a hassle to get some ice. Tim’s Terrace said they didn’t have any, even though they serve drinks, therefore I had to walk to Cozinha da Clara. Again the reception staff was aware I wanted ice and they made no effort whatsoever to assist. Tim’s Terrace closes too early for food. The main restaurant Cozinha da Clara wants to give the impression of formality and exclusivity however instead it feels pretentious and unwelcoming- we didn’t stay. The view was pretty, the room was comfortable (we could deal with the stairs) and clean and the breakfast was excellent. I would not stay again due to the poor service.

This was just the best place to stay in Pinhao. The staff were so friendly and ready to help and provide tips and recommendations. Loved the room - very clean and comfortable. The entire Quinta couldn't be more relaxing and peaceful. The restaurant had stunning views and dinner was to die for. I plan on staying at Quinta de la Rosa again.

All I can say is run to this Quinta! This was the highlight of our trip, by far. The staff was exceptional; as is the property which was very clean. We stayed at the outer building and had a pool all to ourselves, along with a lemon tree & breathtaking views. The restaurant on the property was great and the breakfast was just right, offering plenty of fresh options. The wait staff was friendly and professional, offering great wine paring options for every course of every meal. A short walk brings you to the nearby city where you can take a river cruise or walk to two other vineyards to do a wine tasting. The staff arranged a driver to take us to other Quintas for wine, cheese, bread and honey tastings. It was fabulous. We will be back for sure!!!

This place is a gem. Everything is perfectly maintained and clean. The entire property is gorgeous, and the room was exceptional. Some the better wine in the area as well, so great bonus. The location is convenient, walkable from Pinhao, but secluded enough to not feel like you are in a town.

Not a typical layout for hotel as rooms are located around the property, but this just adds to the wonderful setting. Parking was easy, location to town is walkable if you want...about a mile, but nice and safe. The views are outstanding, even from my standard room. Dinner and breakfast was both wonderful. Pinhao is a simple town, a little gritty, but in a "time forgot" kind of way, not at all unsafe. Plenty of boat options from town. Several simple restaurant options as well, plus great options for hikes right from town center or short drive up the vineyard slopes.

One of the best places I've ever stayed. Room was spotlessly clean, breakfast amazing, and location spectacular. Every person working there was wonderful. Easy walk to town, and lots of hiking trails to discover. I hope we can return someday!

Top class hotel. Excellent room, staff, and restaurant. The wines and wine tour (on site) were excellent. We do not recommend driving in from the north through the mountains, it is very treacherous. Only drive via Regua on N222.

Our stay was next to prefect… even the rainy weather couldn’t dampen our stay! Our room was beautiful with magnificent view of Douro…everywhere is like a storybook! We had dinner the 2 nights we stayed it was excellent. We did a wine tasting tour… tasting and learned so much! Quinta de la Rosa is only a short walk from town so we had a nice lunch in town and walk around! Prefect 2 nights!

Our stay here was wonderful! It was idyllic and the property was incredibly charming and romantic. The views could not be beat and the proximity to town was very convenient because we did not have a car. Would highly recommend.
