The hotel is nice for a short stay however could do with a few upgrades but generally well maintained. When we arrived we had a very warm welcome and throughout the stay our 2 dogs were made to feel relaxed and happy. The shower in the room was so small you struggled to move about and the shower gel provided even though smelt lovely was obviously watered down. The best thing about the room was the bed which was very comfortable. All but1 member of staff were welcoming and helpful making the stay pleasant for us and our 2 dogs. The food was reasonably priced and OK however only 1 vegan option. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The thing that let this stay down and the reason for the 3 star was our experience at check out. The bill was higher than expected and when we questioned this 1 member of staff was rude and his attitude was unprofessional. Also we were informed prior to our arrival the price per dog per night was £5 which we thought was very reasonable however this member of staff tried to charge double the price per dog per night stating that our dogs were large dogs, even if this was the case and a springer spaniel were classed as a large dog changing the price is not acceptable without prior notice. Overall pleasant stay which was spoilt by the attitude of member of staff.

Very nice staff, quaint little hotel, very old pub. Rooms are modern. Because it’s so old the floors are slanted. Might be a problem if you have had a few drinks! The show is good, but the cubicle for it is very small, so not great if you are a larger person. Mattress was also very soft. But overall a very nice place.

Lovely historic building and we had a beautiful room! Small carpark at the back .Good drinks prices in the bar- didnt look at meals .Will happily stay again

Comfy bed and room although radiator in bathroom did not work. Food ok but felt like it had been cooked in advance and kept warm.

The pictures in your website do not corrispond to the room where stayed. See attached the photos of the room we got. There is no shower and the standard is completely different from what showed in the photos. Not to mention that it was not clean and we had to ask to change the sheets as the bed was covered in short dark hair. In all honesty, it wasn't what we expect from the booking. We would appreciate to get some compensation for this misrepresentation. Please let us know Thank you.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean, comfy room with all you could need for a short stay and in a nice quiet area.

For three motorcyclists in our 60’s it suited us perfectly, Cooked breakfast, evening meal, a bar, a comfy bed and private parking, it ticked all the boxes. 😀

We had a wonderful stay at Cain Valley Hotel. The room was perfect for our needs, breakfast was fantastic and we loved the fact it was cooked to order. We ate in the pub restaurant both nights, too and couldn’t fault either of the meals we had - fantastic quality and huge portions. Will definitely be returning!

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It was comfortable and warm, and the staff were happy and friendly. Breakfast was particularly well cooked with good quality ingredients. Very good value for money.

Stayed for 2 nights, room was a nice size. Bed was comfy. Shower struggled to get hot so was just warm and is quite small. The TV is tiny they defo could do with bigger ones. We stayed on the half board option and evening meals were delicious, breakfast was good too.

Cosy room oozing with character.. The staff upon check-in (and check-out of course) were great.. helped us to our room, showed us everything we needed to know.. the room was spotless, luckily for me as I forgot mine, toiletries were provided, including shower gel and shampoo.. I was performing at a local event and was back late but that was absolutely fine and nice and easy upon getting back to my room. Will definitely stay again.

Shower was outdated and took lightyears to warm up. Suffered from cold shower. Cleanliness was poor. Breakfast was bland.

The Cain Valley is steeped in tradition and about as far from todays modern chain hotels as you can get. Great service, fair prices, good beer and enthusiastic staff. Very much a breath of fresh air. Its also well frequented by the locals - which is usually a good sign. but can get a little noisy at closing time. So recommend you ask for a room not over the Public Bar.
