the lodge really feels like you are visiting relatives. You are always welcome in a relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are wonderful and you really get a good sense of your surroundings.

We spent three nights at Moditlo Lodge in April 2016 as an end to our holiday. From the moment we arrived we received absolutely excellent service in every single way. From the hotel staff who were helpful, friendly and polite to our beautifully decorated room which was clean and comfortable to the game drives that were exciting, interesting and insightful. Both my wife and I are both qualified Game Rangers ourselves (FGASA) and have spent extensive time in the bush and at various lodges and we were so impressed with every single aspect of Moditlo Lodge during our stay. I would recommend this new lodge to anyone and everyone. It manges to encompass an intimate feel with the luxuries of a big lodge. This lodge has the potential, and indeed is on the way, to being one of the great lodges of SA.

We took a tour of Africa, 4 hotels in 4 cities, 2 countries and I can not express how well the staff and accommodations are. An outstanding hotel that left our group of 7 in awe...we'll be talking about it for years to come!!

The property is new modern and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was good not great. The driver guide and tracker were exceptional. They got the most out of a reserve with a smaller animal population.

Very comfortable and staff very attentive. The bomas is great but those chairs with their own little tables are too formal awkward and unstable. The sound of traffic esp the train hooting is very unfortunate as it spoils the bush experience. Game drive, too fast to catch up to a maybe sighting and I have never enjoyed crashing through bush, which is thick there, in order to see an animal, most particularly Donna river bed. It damages the environment as well as spoiling it for the people who own houses along the river bed.

My husband and I had a WONDERFUL time here! The staff was so incredibly sweet, it was our honeymoon and they set heart shaped roses on the bed with champagne. The game drives were amazing! Our first morning a herd of elephants walked right past our suv and we also stumbled upon a group of giraffes! Walter was our field guide and Bennett was our tracker- both great and personable guys that worked really hard to find animals for us. We saw: hippos, giraffes, elephants, kudu, impalas, wildabeast (not sure how to spell that!) worthog, mongoose, zebras, antelope, vultures, Zulu, monkeys and baboons. I know I'm missing a few animals but those were the highlights! The food was also delicious, I'm a vegetarian and they were very accommodating. Our second night, we had a really cool cookout in a boma and it was a great way to interact with the other guests and eat some traditional South African cuisine. I really can't rave enough. I picked this lodge because it looked beautiful and we really wanted a lodge that was luxurious but not so much a resort that the reserve and purpose for being there got lost. I highly recommend this lodge!!!

This was our first time in South Africa and our very first safari experience. We received a warm welcome from the very hospitable staff at Moditlo Lodge. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have all the amenities that you would need to stay comfortable. The location gives you the perfect sense of staying close to a safari while being pampered in the luxury of a rustic lodge. They even had a bonfire on Saturday night which was the perfect time to enjoy some interesting steaks and wines while catching up with the other lodge members on their safari experiences. The morning and evening safaris are a great way to gain a safari experience and enjoy sighting the birds and animals in their natural habitat. The highlight of our trip was the lion sighting on our first morning safari. We saw a lioness feasting on her morning kill in the bushes about 8 – 10 feet from the safari van. She was surrounded by a lion and another lioness with her two cubs. It was the perfect start to our first (and definitely not the last) experience on a safari. I think Moditlo has great staff on site. They helped new guests like my husband and myself plan activities outside of the lodge, kept us well informed about activities in the lodge and even attended to our meal preferences. All in all it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I can safely say that I will definitely be going back to South Africa and Moditlo River Lodge again.

Staff service was excellent. The game drive staff were knowledgeable and tried their very best to find us the animals. However, we were put off by the narrow-minded competitive behaviour between the various game drivers. The food at best was moderately good, the menu was boring and repetitive with some form of fried meat every day. Finally, we were disappointed with the paucity of 'Big 5' animals.

I am beyond happy with my stay at Moditlo. Fabulous rooms, food and service. Our butler always made sure we were well fed and our game drive guide and tracker worked very hide to make our rides enjoyable. We only saw lions & rhinos out of the big five but saw tons of zebra and giraffe and more. We went in summer, so I assume you'd see even more in the winter.

Great complimentary game drives (morning and evening); Room cleanliness can be improved; so can the food. Otherwise great place to be. The people were great and helpful. Would go back if I have a chance in the future.

My wife and I spent a week at the Moditlo River Lodge, we both really enjoyed it. Chef Neil provided us with excellent meals. The twice daily game drives were great, we got to see pretty much everything, a group of Lions even came into camp on our final night. The front of house staff really couldn't do enough for you. The only negative point we found was that cocktails seemed to take an age to make which left my wife waiting for her drinks long after my beer or wine had been delivered.

Overall a very nice place to stay - lovely clean rooms, nice staff and informative game drivers. Only negatives would be the food wasn't great - it felt like the chefs tried to be too up-scale and overly fussy when we really wanted more traditional SA food, like grilled meats and a salad buffet etc. My husband got sick on day 2 after a seafood meal the night before and another guest was also sick - the resort said there had been a virus going around, however we all felt the seafood was probably at fault. Also we had not realised you do not enter Kruger Park if staying at Moditlo and looking back, felt the website led us to believe we would - we actually only went to visit KP, so to not actually didn't cross into it ever was a shame! We were told that to do so would be a separate day trip to be booked with another resort.

Very helpful hosts and amazing structure. The free transfer to the airport is a bonus. The safari team driven by Thomas was awesome and we could see the big five in only 2 drives. Their braai was also enjoyable. Recommended!

As refeições super deliciosas!
