The property location is great , the overall building appeal is great. Looks like when it was built it was splendid. But I dont think they invested a single dollar since. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I have have travel to 50 countries for now, almost all of Europe( UK, France, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech, Etc etc), few Asia ( Singapore, Indonesia), few Africa ( South Africa, Mali, Etzwatini, Burkina Faso), Few Middle East (UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Israel, Oman) The Americas almost all of it. I stayed at some of the most Luxurious brand Ritz, Andaz, Etc etc including Whydham sometimes. This property in Barra has been my worst experience, no water in rooms, no coffee, no tea as complementary in the room you have to buy, They remove the soiled towels they dont replace them automatically, you have request them after the clean the room, The furniture probably dated since opening, the TV was a 32 - 36 inches. The front desk staff was was so rude, rolling eyes when pressing for service, slamming key card when confronted. I had to speak to the manager because I had an early flight, prior to breakfast open, all other hotels will provide a to go box, none of that existed at that hotel, that manager was pleasant and apologize for this lack of service . You're probably wondering this, yes I was in the Master King suite . so you can imagine how the rest of the rooms were. I stayed there for 4 nights. Horrible experience

Hotel have beautiful views of the beach but the overall all cleanliness of the place was supper bad, had to change room because the shower had a really bad stain that couldn’t be fixed. In the new room same problem and they really need to look into upgrading furniture plush do and excessive cleaning.

El primer día de estancia salimos a las 10:30 hs vuelvo a las 17 hs y la habitación no había hecho el cuarto, tuve que reclamar para que fueran a hacerla a la mayor brevedad posible cosa que se hizo recién a las 17:30 hs. Al día siguiente lo mismo, pero esta vez la empleada que enviaron vino de muy mala gana, la cama la hizo sin usar una sábana, teniendo que dormir sobre el forro del colchón, esto llevo a que en la noche la cama quedó totalmente desarmada. Además no limpió nada el baño, Duchero, inodoro, pileta, espejo, ni siquiera un trapo al piso. Me dice que me deja solo 2 toallas de ducha y que no tiene disponibilidad de toallas de mano ni de piso. Tengo filmación de todo esto que estoy contando como respaldo. Además el baño estaba mal mantenido con hongos en las paredes que requerían cuidados para no contagiarse. Hice el reclamo en el counter y me dijeron que lo tomarían en cuanta para el futuro pero sin darme ninguna solución en el momento, puede ser que todas las habitaciones estuvieran en iguales condiciones pero eso no lo pude saber. Espero que esto le sirva a otra persona para que lo tome en cuenta al tomar su decisión.

It needs a refurb, but still just avout passable. But the location, facilities excellent. Breakfast could be more interesting. Would be an amazing hotel with a small refurb

I will never stay here again. Soon after we got to our room I discovered a leak from the ceiling. The bathroom was falling apart and moldy, and the entire room in desperate need of a remodel, not to mention the strangest TV placement ever. We asked for a different room because of the leak, they wanted to send maintenance, but we asked to please just get another room, they obliged. In our relief to be out of the first room I guess we didn't pay much attention to how bad the next room was and happily accepted right away.This room was EVEN WORSE than the first one, at least there was no leak, but every time you walked in from the hallway(which also smells like mold)you could smell the mold in the room.On top of that,the toilet was loose,TP holder falling off the wall, mold all along and around the seams where they put caulking on some kind of cheap wall covering in the bathroom, at least the first room had tile! AND the water temperature would go from scalding hot to freezing cold,no inbetween, but the bed was the worst part! We booked a King, what we got were two MOLDY double beds pushed together topped with old scratchy sheets and a small old mattress pad stained brown.It made it impossible to get a good nights sleep,all I could smell was mold, I am pretty sure I got sick from staying here. This review does not reflect the staff who were as helpful as they could be I guess, it does reflect major neglect by hotel management/ownership and complete lack of hotel upkeep.

great hotel in Barra da Tijuca

There was a construction going on in the room above us, after complaining for 3 days, they finally moved us to another room, also with construction happening in a room above ours. And the rooms are old and dirty. Worst experience ever!

La habitación estaba con arena cuando llegamos y estaba con mucho olor a humedad, el baño era muy antiguo y la puerta no cerraba bien. La vista es hermosa y el personal muy amable pero las habitaciones del hotel no está en buenas condiciones, podrían mejorar mucho. El desayuno con muy poca variedad y solo el fin de semana habían cosas más variadas. La ubicación excelente y el servicio de playa también.

I requested an early check-in but never received any update or confirmation. When I arrived at the hotel, I had to wait in the lobby for more than eight hours before my room was ready. Had I known this in advance, I would have booked an additional night to ensure the room was available earlier. The staff was unhelpful and unable to accommodate even a one-hour early check-in. I was only able to access my room after 3:00 PM.

I have to wait over an hour for the check in. Stuff looking at you at all moments uncomfortable. And the area it’s around the beach to logic be shirt less. And I was told not to be when I was heading to my suit.

The room wasn’t in the best condition, certainly dated. I had to wait 3 hours to check in after check in time of 3pm. Overall it wasn’t a bad stay.

Room was dirty

There was not even a spoon and the basic amenity in the room , I was asked to pay a resort fees of 35 reas when I was checking out , I already paid all the money when I checked in , they never told me at that time Now when I am checking out they want me to pay .. how rude is that .. no options for vegetarians in breakfast Not even they have tomatoes and cucumbers I will never visit again

La habitacion que nos habian asignado inicialmente no estaba en condiciones ideales (Particularmente el baño estaba bastante viejo). A la mañana siguiente, ante nuestra observacion, nos cambiaron a una habitacion superior.

The property was poorley maintained and there was also a lot of mould in eating area on the roof and our room 505. Some lifts were out of order. Pool grounds and pool.edges need a good clean over. The managment team should be ashamed of themselves.

For the price I paid it is worth it. The rooms are spacious, but needs refreshing. Love the security presence !!!

Only downside for us was that the pool was closed unexpectedly for half of our stay.

Hot tub was excellent. only one of the two outdoor hottubs was warm though. indoor hot tub also excellent.
