We spent on night at the Buck and enjoyed our stay, the staff were lovely and made us feel welcome, we entered the quiz on the Sunday night but didn’t win! The breakfast was good also. We would have liked a small sink in the shower room and a bigger table to make drinks on as the kettle was on the windowsill.

Perfect hosts, friendly greetings on arrival and managed to check in half an hour early. A few tired areas in the Buck Inn which could do with freshening up but appreciate it is an old listed building. However this didn’t dampen our stay. Comfy bed and nice clean linen and towels. A great hearty breakfast in the morning set us up for the day ahead. Would definitely return again.

Don't be put off when you enter the pub, it looks very old and needing lots of upgrades. Then there's the staff, you couldn't have a better reception than here. Our room was spotless and everything that you needed was in and if it wasn't you only had to ask. It was a hot day so we could sit in the beer garden, that too could have benefited from a tidy up but it didn't spoil having a drink or two, The included breakfast was spot on. All in all we had a great stay here and we would go back. We went to the old theatre and would say that if you haven't been inside you are missing a treat.

Really lovely quaint hotel! Staff are amazing and go above and beyond!! Thank you to Laura, Paul and the wonderful chef!! Please note, this is a very old building and doesn’t have all the mod cons of a modern property. Bed linen and towels were lovely and clean. There is tea and coffee in the room and you may request additional items if you need them. Beer garden is amazing with lovely views. There are TVs to watch sport. Not suitable for people with mobility issues as there are stairs up to the rooms. My sister and I had a wonderful 2 night stay. 😀

Goo, fresh English breakfast, absolutely no complaints. Property is generally a little tired and could do with freshening up. Ok for a quick stopover

The room was absolutely filthy - even the kettle was dirty. The bathroom had black mould in it and there was mould / damp above the bed. The window didn't open so we couldn't even air the room. I dropped some clothing on the floor and when I picked it up it was covered in dust / dirt and small curly hairs... I know the room was cheap - the furniture was all very old and dated which is fine but the very least I expect from a hotel room is for it to be clean. The breakfast was the only redeeming feature - the breakfast was good and the breakfast chef was lovely.

The hotel is very dated and needs decorating. Our shower hardly worked as the water just dripped out. The bed was comfy and the bedding and towels were lovely and clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good. The downstairs bars were cluttered with things and needed a good clear out, this made it not very inviting to have a drink. The hotel is in an ideal place in the centre of town which was ideal for what we wanted.

The Buck Inn is well positioned for the centre of town without being too busy. The room we booked was already occupied when we arrived so we were allocated a small family room (1x double + 1 single divan). There was no wardrobe just a short metal rack on the wall positioned over an electric radiator. The hand basin was in the bedroom and the en suite loo/shower room did not have a functioning extractor fan. The kettle was on the window sill behind the curtain which was not ideal. Breakfast was well cooked and the cafetière coffee was good. Parking was on the street in a zoned area limiting time to 2 hours parking between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday and we were given a parking disc to display on the dash when we checked in.

Last minute booking for us (having messed up booking a different place). Absolute bargain and a great place to stay. Parking was easy, just outside, and free too. We had a disabled badge, but were offered a parking disc when we arrived. Room was lovely, facing the street, but that wasnt a problem as it was quiet in the main. Large room with very comfy bed and really lovely en suite. Bedding and towels were pristine. Breakfast was included, which they asked us to pre order the night before. We had the full English, and there were cereals too, with fruit juices and a pot of coffee or tea. Location was perfect; central, just off the market square so no noise. Would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff that made us so welcome.

Room was clean but carpet bady stained and lots of mould on ceiling in shower. Reception was very cluttered but staff pleasant. Breakfast ok. Disc parking. Luckily we arrived at 4.30 pm otherwise disc would have expired and we would have had to find alternate parking. Would not stay here again.
