Beautiful lodge surroundings but limited dining options which were happily overcome by the charming and extremely helpful staff. I'd recommend staying here only if you're looking for stillness and tranquility as it's a very off the beaten path location that's at least 20 mins from the city centre of Essaouira which is very charming but quiet too.

Older property but very clean and functional. Staff at front desk quite willing to help out with anything you need. Breakfast, lunch and dinner have nice buffets with good service.

Severe ant infestation in living room. Some cold water taps not working. No shower gel or shampoo in some bathrooms. No soap in one toilet. Another toilet flush not working. Terribly cleaned by maid service.

One male member of staff tried to kiss our young daughter on the mouth. When we consulted the manager we were told this was "normal in Morocco". Apart from that the place is well designed pretty to look at but has seen better days. Cleanliness is an issue, especially when staying with kids

One of the reasons we booked Essaouira Lodge was the promise of a kitchenette so we could do simple food preparation during our stay. However, the kitchen in our apartment lacked any of the bare essentials required to use it, such as cookware, cooking utensils, or cleaning products. After some back and forth with the staff we managed to get some beat-up pots and pans and a scrubbing brush; we had to forget about doing anything more complicated than boiling eggs. The kettle was filthy and the coffee maker needed an hour of amateur engineering and cleaning to bring it to working order. The apartment itself was quite nice but very much showing signs of age and cumulative lack of maintenance. The shuttle service back and forth from the city is excellent. The pool is nice and the staff in the restaurant/bar are lovely. The breakfast, however, is a bit grim.

We stayed here for 4 days and it was super relaxing. The pool area was great and the staff in the bar and restaurant were lovely. Our room was a little bit tired, and the bed was rock hard! There was also an awful smell from the shower which got progressively worse throughout our stay, they weren't very quick at resolving this which made it hard to spend time in the room. I had a massage at the hotel which was OK, but I would recommend getting one in the town as they are slightly better. Having the bus shuttle was brilliant as they take you into town whenever you request, and the driver was lovely. All in all I would recommend staying here as the price was so reasonable and the staff are so friendly, I was just a bit disappointed with our room, luckily we didn't spend much time in there!

The lodge itself is really lovely. Big rooms, nice pool and grounds, great service. Food is a little mediocre and quite a bit more than what we have paid elsewhere.

It seemed like a luxurious hotel based on the pictures and ratings. However, it is more like a nice but simple hotel with a great pool and wonderful gardens. Upon arrival a more welcoming manner would have been nice, but on the second day we felt the staff was a bit more attentive.

Stayed at Riad Jona twice during our stay in Morocco and would definitely stay here again. Once inside the Riad it is very peaceful and tranquil and the staff were fantastic; made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The Riad is beautifully decorated throughout.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Essaouira Lodge. The suites, apartments and villas are all beautiful and set in lovely gardens. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful - they could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The food was lovely and they have a gorgeous and very relaxing massage room on site and hammam. The shuttle service to town is brilliant and it means you hardly even notice that you are staying outside the town as its so convenient. We would definitely recommend Essaouira Lodge as a delightful place to stay.

We stayed for a week at Essaouria Lodge which is about 15km out of Essaouira itself. The setting is lovely and is amazing value for money. We had a lovely breakfast every morning and a buffet lunch was always available. Evening meals had to be ordered in advance and we usually didn't have this. We almost had the place to ourselves. The hotel staff were very helpful. Little bits are tired. The gym equipment doesn't all work, the air conditioned bus is a bit less grand than billed, there is no wifi and the pre ordering for dinner are slight niggles but for the price I don't consider these to be a huge issue. If you want it all to be perfect then pay for that somewhere else. The free bus into town was always available for us and always on time and made a real difference to our experience. The weather is better just that little bit out of tow. If you want peace and quiet at a great price this is a fantastic spot.
