Excellent breakfast and welcoming bar located in beautiful village

Lovely stay

I have stayed in this hotel on multiple occasions now, and it remains one of my go to places for staying in this area.

The stay was wonderful everybody was so nice and friendly especially Martin, Karen and Rosie made our stay so nice. Wonderful staff but Martin Stone was our favourite. The only problem was the mattress was very soft and you could feel the springs.

The hotel was in a nice situation ...a lovely village green with a very good shop and also a fish and chip shop, the room was nice however the bed was a little tired, there was no head board and they were mean with the pillows, I guess we could have asked for more but didn't so sitting on the bed was a little uncomfortable, parking was excellent and the actual pub was great with a pretty good atmosphere, the breakfast may have been the best we've ever had and the breakfast room was bright and delightful with friendly staff.

This was another return visit to this wonderful warm and friendly pub/hotel. This time i was accompanied with my daughter/we came up up to celebrate my friend's birthday and celebrate my daughters acceptance to University. As before the rooms we had were clean and comfortable the staff were helpful/friendly and the whole evening was brilliant. Truth be told we came up for the fantastic food served at the restaurant-we all had steak which was perfectly done and dessert-was definately worth the short ish journey up from Essex. What better than having a nice meal then stopping over for the night and back in the morning ..this place is perfect for that. There are plenty of rooms to cater for a large family or a solo traveller. I said i would return last time here....and will again...Great value for money. A great short gettaway was had by us all. A decent breakfast also considering its included in your stay.

Comfortable, clean. Excellent dinner. OK breakfast.

We stayed at the Crown to attend a family wedding nearby. The hotel is clean, comfortable with good facilities. The restaurant has a good choice of dishes for all tastes and is good value, The breakfast included in the package was excellent. The staff are relaxed, professional and helpful.

Dinner was delicious! Bed was super comfortable and staff were so friendly and helpful... even gave us a small jug of fresh milk for our room. Suggestion: would have been nice if there were some board games/cards in the pub to pass our time. There was a dart board but tables were infront of it. But overall, lovely stay and would definately stay again!

Rooms may be slightly dated but we had a great stay and good service. Breakfast was lovely. Barry was very helpful

Different and so much better an experience for it. Family run and it shines through. Genuine, friendly. All going the extra mile. A good weekend stay for our family.

Clean,room. Nice spacious bathroom . Comfortable bed ,has everything you need. Lovely village setting . Very nice,helpful staff Stayed here last year and did not disappoint,as good room as before.

Awesome staff, nice little pub. Decent food and a good breakfast. Bed was hard as a rock. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water.

I always stay here when visiting

Had to wait over half an hour to check into our room as it wasnt ready. A bit dusty in bathroom area. Door to courtyard got stuck but managed to get it open.

Stayed 1 night while attending a family wedding at Hockwold Hall. We had rooms 11 & 12 made into a family room for the 4 of us. It was absolutely perfect with a separate bedroom and additional, separate toilet. Bathroom had a skylight so you could look at the stars while relaxing in the spacious bath. The venue even arranged transport for us (additional cost) to get us too and from Hockwold Hall. Breakfast was delicious.

Staff were friendly, its handy for the area i was in and i'd stay again..
