Beautiful hotel with lots of history in a great location. The staff were all professional, proficient, helpful and friendly - could not do enough for you. Delicious dinner (best lamb I've ever had) and breakfast with great choice. Would definitely recommend.

This is annokd hotel maintained beautifully. The staff was very helpful. Taking the time to find me a room near the elevator which i really appreciated. I woukd not however recommend eating at thur restaurant, called the bank . I waited iver an hour, with noone advising me of the wait- and then the pork belly was dry and stringy- some parts inedible. To their credit tho they did not charge me for the meal. Its in the old part of town which also was nice.

Our room was a bit on the small side but we managed ok , had bath and shower, breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and all staff were very pleasant and helpful we enjoyed our two night stay

Lovey hotel in a central location

Receptionist was very friendly and welcoming at check-in. The room was spacious and clean with a large bathroom and tub, very welcome after traveling on the train. Tea and coffee was available in the room, which was most appreciated. The staff throughout the hotel were always friendly and accommodating.

Clean and presentable hotel right in the heart of Barnstaple. The only reason I have dropped a star is that on a warm summer evening the rooms (no a/c) do get very stuffy even with the window wide open and the fan on. The extractor fan noise from outside then doesn’t help when you’re already struggling to sleep. The restaurant is absolutely amazing!

Overall a very good experience with this hotel, bar and restaurant were excellent and not overpriced. Would definitely stay there again

I stayed hear on a business trip so didn't get out and but the hotel and ajoining rooms were plesent to be in.

Stayed here for one night whilst on business. The hotel is lovely, the room was huge and everywhere I went was spotlessly clean. I didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food. Will definitely stay again though.

The room and bathroom were very, very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the settee helped make it a very relaxing area. I would have liked an iron and ironing board in the room. The reception and restaurant staff were very professional, friendly and helpful.

When in bed we noticed the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling The bedside lockers were sticky Out room 107 one of the back rooms Small and right above the big air condition ing outside really noisy all night Really dissapointed with our stay especially as it was a birthday weekend Breakfast service was all mixed up we ended up with other people’s breakfast staff not paying attention. Plates were being passed around

Nice room nice hotel

First of all the positives. Lovely reception staff. Rooms were lovely and clean. Location perfect for our needs. Negatives, once you leave the reception and ground floor it is a very dated building. Our room was small but clean, issue glass screen in bathroom which you can’t move due to sink being in way so you cant get to the taps without climbing in the bath. I was woken around 2am by a really noisy butch of guests, not the hotels fault but could probably do with some sound proofing as the only reason I woke up was because it was so loud I thought they were in our room. Breakfast, lovely girls but didn’t ask us about allergies, showed us to table didn’t advise about cereals or juices. Asked if we wanted tea or coffee and took our breakfast order. How would I like my eggs? Pouched please! Received fried. No I didn’t complain as the lady sat next to us asked for boiled eggs and was told they don’t usually do them so would need to wait 10 minutes, when they arrived they were over cooked. The lady had also been woken by the other guests around 2am. Also restaurant was empty yet the lady and us were put right in a walk way where there seemed to be a lot of human traffic passing us. We did say something to reception on leaving and was offered to speak to a manger but I didn’t feel the need as the receptionist was lovely. Would we stay again, probably not.
