An okay place to stay in a small town. Room was cleanish, however several items were broken, or in disrepair. Lamps, chair, coffee maker, etc. my biggest complaint is that it is listed as a non smoking property, however each day there was cigarette and marijuana smoke coming in from other rooms. I spoke with the front desk the first evening and was moved, which addressed the situation for the first night. When I spoke to management, they confirmed the policy of no smoking and assured that they would address the situation. However the same thing happened the next day. The property had several guests from construction sites and/or international trade from the local auto parts plant. It was rooms occupied by these individuals who violated the smoking policy. I am confident they valued the revenue created by these guests, over a two night traveling party, and chose to disregard the nonsmoking policy. Poorly done. Find a way to make everyone’s stay healthy and comfortable.

If you’re stuck in the middle of lower Alabama, in the middle of the night, in desperate need of a place to stay, then it will work. I wouldn’t suggest staying there for any other reason. The owner was very nice, but the hotel was extremely outdated, rooms were like a sauna.

The rate was inexpensive, and the room was comfortable. It met our needs for a quick rest for a long drive.

For the second year the pool was "Closed for Repairs" The rooms were clean but they did show signs of age and lack of maintenance.

The bed had a dip in the middle, which caused me to have some back pain when I woke up. Hotel is dated and even nonsmoking areas had a stale smoke smell

Bed was good and the room was large enough to have a loveseat to sit on.

Great staff, stains on blankets in the first room we were given but he switched us out rooms right away, over all it was a great experience.

Our room had bed bugs (especially in our beds), some nasty black stuff on the back of the door, a tub with black marks and dripping faucet, a dirty, smelly refrigerator, mold on the vents of the A/C and the guy at the desk had a bad attitude. To rectify the problem, we were offered to move to another room and receive a $10 credit or simply check out. This is a very small town with this hotel being the only one in town. They suggested the "motel" down the street. It was already nearly 10pm and my aunt is handicap. I suggested we get help moving to the new room. The woman (Bonita) from the desk did come and help. I went back to tell them other problems with the room the man at the desk was unapologetic and rude! I also mentioned 1/2 off the 1st night (of a 3 night stay for 2rooms, totalling nearly $500) would be better compensation. He said to me, we're done here ma'am and also said they rectified the problem with giving us a new room. My issue is bed bugs may have already got into our things before we moved. I feel itchy and creeped out! I am totally disappointed and will never stay here again!!

The only negative about staying at Rutledge Inn was finding it. We drove past it twice but missed it because of the sign. Was looking for Rutledge Inn but name was in small print at bottom of sign and missed it twice. After catching it the 3rd try, we enjoyed the over nite stay!
