This hotel exceeded our expections. Only 10 to 15 minute walk to central downtown area with shopping and cafes. The hotel feeds you breakfast and dinner, which was very nice. Rooms are unique and very quiet This hotel provides great value for your money. Rooms were spacious and well lighted. Will definitely stay here again on next visit to Helsinki.

Quiet neighborhood and very close to the Viking Line ferry terminal. Tram 4 stops outside the gate. Nice atmosphere in the converted prison. The included dinner was good and the included breakfast was excellent.

Unique hotel and the loveliest staff

This is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. A magnificent remodel of an old prison preserved some of the historic rooms or cells. The staff was beyond helpful, even lending us us champagne keeper.

Great place to stay in Helsinki, not too far from anything (we walked almost everywhere). Breakfast was always a really nice layout with same options all days. We didn't try the free dinners, but they had different menus each day we were there. Only negative was that our first room had an incredibly high tub/ shower combo that you had to really stretch to get into/out of. Staff moved us to a room w/ only a shower that was much better. Overall, 9.5/10!

The entire experience was excellent from the room, food and staff. The historical ambience is fascinating.

I genuinely cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough. It is an interesting and unique building and beautifully updated while honouring the original use and look of the interior, and saving a little of the history as an almost museum like viewing area. On top of that, the staff are amongst some of the best we have ever encountered, the food is plentiful and tasty, the location is ideal for major sights of Helsinki and next to a tram stop should you wish to see further afield. It has on-site parking, plenty of stairways and fast and effective lifts. The room was wonderful, spacious and comfortable and had a kettle which we discovered was unusual in Scandanavia. If I could give this 6 stars or more, I would.

Such a brilliant place to stay in Helsinki. Brilliantly located, historic and interesting building and the provision of dinner made it perfect for travelling with kids. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and always helpful.

Tram stop is right outside hotel and is 10-15 mins ride to central station (less to City Centre and market square) Hotel and rooms very clean and all staff encountered (reception and restaurant) very friendly Slept well every night, despite the trams running early in the morning. Rooms are well maintained, only issue is with the bath being very deep so not the easiest to get in and out of - if this would be an issue I would request a shower room instead. Breakfast is a lovely spread, hot and cold options and pastries, juices, coffee, smoothies Evening meal not to same level - a soup option, plenty of salads and breads but only 1 main course and no desserts. Has to be said though that all the food was excellent quality and is constantly replenished. For the evening main course, check the board near reception, the QR code on the tv leads to a menu that hadn't been updated. Overall very happy and would definitely return

So much fun to stay in what used to be a prison (although it took me a day to figure that out!). The decor is fascinating. Otherwise, great location, easy transportation options, excellent dining nearby. Hotel is about 40min from airport so not the closest option.

Convenient location and it was an easy transfer by taxi. We were 90 minutes early from our check in time but although our rooms were ready they were happy to charge us € 20 Euros for an early check in but not let us have them early. We left the luggage in storage and went for a stroll.

Quirky, characterful hotel walking distance from Helsinki centre. Was such a cool experience staying in a prison but with 5 star facilities. We had a great stay, great location, lovely food (im vegetarian and plenty for me) and super comfy beds. Highly recommend

Quite a unique and pleasantly quiet hotel. My room was pretty nice size and the bed very comfortable. The downside was that there was no aircon and the windows can’t be opened. Luckily there was a table fan. Although the room was mostly in good condition, some of the doors and doorframes could do with a little paint. Also, the paint was peeling very badly around the window in the bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful, I didn’t have a chance to try the fika, and only had dinner once and it was nothing very exciting for a vegetarian but the freshly baked bread was yummy. Other guests (omnivores) seem to be tucking in merrily so I suspect their food choices were tasty.

Hotel has had better days under old management was more upscale and better maintained. Good location

Great, cool hotel with amazing food, loved the incredible included breakfast and dinner. The public areas of the hotel are lovely,unfortunately room was less updated and very small for 2 twins. Also not having sauna open daily was disappointing
