Ok stay for one night

We had a family bedroom with two beds in a quite spacious room above reception. The room was ok but a little tired. Hotel is on the outskirts of Peterborough and we stayed there for easy access to Burghley house and Stamford Village which are 20 to 30 minute drive away. Hotel is quite close to the A1 and also there is a heritage railway nearby. Breakfast was good and was set in the older part of the house. I guess it’s often use for wedding functions because the older part of the house looks very nice. Good facilities with spa, pool and gym. Also part of the hotel grounds was a pub with food. Overall a good stay for one night.

Easy to find, plenty of areas to park. Room allocated was large and bright, no lifts so be prepared to carry your bags up 2 flights of stairs. Staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi was patchy in areas especially restaurant where it was non-existent. Breakfast was lovely, evening meal was nothing special. Clearer, up to date information would be useful both for hotel and spa.

Our room was perfect for us, a good size and lovely and quiet. Corridors were quiet and the floor did not creak as you walked along so we slept very well. Bed was very good, pillows less so. Hotel is in an excellent location for walking down the canal, ponds and woods, lots of green space just a walk away. The food at the restaurant was not as good as we were hoping but there are 2 very good pubs very close which served very good food. All in all though, for us, a very enjoyable stay

We had a lovely stay, It was a shame the restaurant was closed as we visited on a Sunday. We will be back for another visit.

It was a great experience, only small thing is maybe the bathroom needs a refresh. Breakfast was really nice.

Glass in window broken and taped up, TV did not tune in so member of staff had to be called to rectify. Usual banging of neighbouring doors was an annoyance at unsociable hours. Only one occasional chair provided when two occupants. We were told that towels were complimentary from the spa when checking in with reception only to find that they were chargeable and then discovered that they were provided in the room. Sadly replacement towels for additional visits to the spa were chargeable, baring in mind the spa was not the cleanest of places with dirty coffee cups and water beakers left in in the rest areas. Spa area feels tired. Rusting beams and stained loungers. When requested help from reception staff were ignored whilst waiting and all they were concerned about were people taking there fan away. Although a 4* hotel feels more like a 3 star hotel.

Overall a lovely spot to stay, travelling on business. Gym is super small and they could do more with the space they have by stripping out some of the bulky treadmills etc and just putting in some weights / kbs / mats. Also my single bed wasn’t amazingly comfy. But would I stay again. Yes, 100%. Staff are great (reception were super helpful as I’d actually booked the wrong night!), breakfast was lovely and the setting / story is gorgeous. Pub next door was decent for dinner. Recommend.

Bit hesitant but so glad I booked this hotel and spa. Used the facilities of the swimming pool and Sauna and provided a good evening and morning breakfast. All the staff I spoke to were most helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Even though this place is set in historic venue, rooms and hallways are okay level and personally I don’t want to come back. Bright white lights room deodorizer are not helpful. It’s not a charming place. Breakfast is very good English breakfast and in nice part of the building. Coffee is good. Staff are friendly and warm welcoming. It is just unfortunate the hard goods are not in place.

Hotel, spa and staff were excellent. Room was ideal and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful. A very good break. No information leaflets about surrounding area/attractions

I liked our room it was large had every facility you could need available in it, the bathroom had a bath and shower and was so clean it glistned as was the main room. The meal at our function was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The pub attacked next to the hotel was lovely We sat. In the garden at the back it was so relaxing, ... , The choices at breakfast were excellent it was self service the food was piping hot and cooked to perfection. Finaly my rating for the Spa and pool I could have stayed there all weekend everything you need to relax is there and it is not over crowded. All in all I think Orton Hall is a wonderful place to stay.

The outside of the property is impressive; however, the inside is not to the same standard. The rooms were quite dusty and despite the weather, no fans were provided.

Excellent stay at a lovely venue, very relaxed, good for kids, incredibly good breakfast.

Front desk staff and restaurant were rather unfriendly and borderline rude. Room wasn’t very clean Expected more amenities in the room eg fridge Spa area was good but floors around pool very slippery and changing rooms floors soaking wet. More regular checking and cleaning. Pub and kitchen staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful Breakfast staff need better training with regards to hospitality etiquette and not handling cutlery and crockery where guests would be placing their mouths I was still eating breakfast and drinking my coffee and staff were trying to clear my plates and removed saucer whilst I was drinking my coffee

Room was a bit dated, in need of a paint brush as much of the woodwork was peeling. Bathroom was adequate with a shower over the bath and quite a high step getting in and out. Toilet made an awful noise through the plumbing, and a previous occupiers bar of soap left on floor of electric radiator. Bed was comfortable and the room warm. Communal spaces littered with room service crockery from the time I arrived until the time I left. Reception staff pleasant, and the breakfast was the highlight of my stay, with so much to choose from. The only downside was the number of staff that on duty was a bit overwhelming, no sooner had you finished with one plate, it was whipped away.

Very friendly and accomdating staff, beautiful old house and fabulous gardens.

Great place for a quiet stay.
