This is an amzing gem of a hotel. I would 100% recommend it to anyone travelling North, just off the A1 between Doncaster and Pontefract. Really friendly staff and a brilliant room - excellent value for money too with an amzing restaurant. Breakfast was faultless too.

Very friendly, helpful staff made our stay. Breakfast good. Some accessibility issues but it is an old property. Our stay in a Superior suite suited out needs, was quiet and comfortable. Countryside setting but close to local towns and places of interest.

A wedding and its reception was going on at the same time. That puts their advertised "quiet room for guests to relax in" on the backburner as it becomes their overspill area - plus finding your room again, can involve an extra tour around the corridors to get back - as they will close off the conservatory. No matter and fair enough. Otherwise that breakfast was lovely - and the evening fare was either a pub pretending to be a restaurant, or the other way round - unless you wanted to sit outside: weather permitting.

Front desk man very good. Breakfast ok. Evening meal quite good. Room 22 Churchill bit out dated, has an aircon unit for cooling however quite noisy and radiator for heat, so not really air-conditioning as advertised. Would i stay again, probably not.

Room was lovely and warm. Great shower, excellent choice of TV channels, room service was a bonus and delicious and the breakfast was superb. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is beautiful and historic, the grounds are kept beautifully too. A great stay and would definitely stay again. Fabulous price as well!

A lovely hotel, quirky layout and route to some bedrooms but worth it. The Jacobean bar and meals were excellent (could improve service) and breakfast was fantastic - avocado on toast a star!

The room was in very good condition and spotless but the shower had very little power and needed to be on the hottest setting to be hot enough. The staff were lovely and the pub food was very reasonable. They had warned me that a Christmas party was going on but I wasn’t quite prepared for how loud the music was until midnight. Ok for a stop over on the way to visit family.
