I was impressed from the moment I walked into the hotel. This is how hotels should be run--like true hospitality from an earlier era. The front desk staff were professional, patient and very kind. The process of checking in was very quick and they took the time to answer all of my questions and to direct me to places I wanted to go. The doormen (if that's what they are still called) are extremely professional, helpful and eager to answer questions. The building is historic and beautiful. The location is perfect in my opinion for easy walking access to all of the art museums, Retiro Park, great restaurants and all of the beautiful city of Madrid. The rooms while maintaining that vintage charm have updated appointments and modern conveniences. The bathroom is modern and quite nice. There is a nice gym in the hotel with enough equipment and space to accommodate a nice workout. The housekeeping staff is outstanding. They were quick to make up my room and did a great job every day. A rarity these days. The entire hotel is immaculate. Compliments to the housekeeping staff. I recommend this hotel highly

Hotel was overall very nice, buffet breakfast choice was great and staff were good too. Only negative I experienced was how thin the walls are between rooms ~ I could hear the neighbours talking clearly. ( in bathroom particularly) Wasn't a big deal as was out most of the time but not what you expect from such a hotel. I would recommend staying here.

Location. The staff were very courteous.

We loved our stay here. From the classic warm cookies on arrival to the exceptional staff who helped recommend restaurants, the stay at the Double Tree was perfect. The single room was small, but the shower and AC worked perfectly. The hotel is centrally located. You can walk 10-15 minutes in either direction and find yourself surrounded by the beauty of Madrid. I definitely recommend this stay for the ease of access you have to the city, and the staff was great.

It was in a very quiet area.... not near tourist spots. Staff was very friendly and attentive. When a taxi was needed it was done in a fast prompt manner.

Traveling with friends and family. Considering giving up on Hotels.com bookings. Our rooms on this entire trip were considerably inferior to our friends even though the prices were in the same ballpark. The new loyalty program isn’t proving to be a better program. The old incentives were better.
