Everything was fine. However we aren't used to small spaces before. And while staying in the room we felt a bit cramped. Although we knew about this in advance-we had read about small spaces in Japanese hotels in magazine before our trip to Japan. One the other hand, we loved traditional atmosphere.

Loved everything! Really friendly and approachable owner who cooked fresh breakfast and helped me out with places to check out and explore in Kyoto! Ensure I was comfortable!

Tommy- what a host!! Guy was super nice, tried to be as accommodating as possible… had I been better prepared, mentally, maybe even read what I was getting into, 10s across the board. I am a hotel traditionalist… but now I can say- been there! Lol, thank you again!!! Kudos!

English speaking owner very focussed on guest comfort. Simple traditional guest house accommodation, tatami mats & futon bedding very clean and comfortable. Easy walk to train and bus, 20 minute walk to Nijo Castle. Good guest experience.

I highly recommend Guest House Oumi. The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet and it's a 5 min walk away from Nijo station which is very convenient. Tonii-san, the main operator of the guest house, was incredibly friendly and hospitable towards me and the other guests. I asked to switch beds in one of the rooms I was staying in and he allowed me to do so without hesitation. He also provided an iron and ironing board when I inquired about it. As an added bonus, the breakfast sandwiches were delightful.

It's an amazing hostel!!! I have to say the staff made my stay unforgetable!!! Tommy is super friendly, and along with other staff! They made really nice breakfast, and wanna you feel like home! It's just a cozy house in the leaving area, can reach to everywhere either way by bus or metro or train! It's lovely, clean, comfortable! For this I will defenitely come back to Kyoto! Seriously didn't stay in this kind of hostel for long time!

Tommy always makes you feel at home, a great place to stay if you want to experience Kyoto like a local. The guesthouse is minutes away from both metro an JR stations, there are businesses, convenience stores, public baths and everything you need to feel at home.

毎朝のサンドイッチ、無料の飲み物が嬉しい反面24時間オープンなのは少し不安でした。二階に上がるのに急な階段なので個室利用の方は大変かと思います。ドミトリーは一階で便利でした。ドミトリー部屋のドアにも鍵はなく、貴重品は鍵付きの小さいロッカーに入れます。部屋が狭いので荷物の整理などは少し工夫が必要です。
