Was surprised upon arrival at the age and grandeur of the establishment that was definitely undersold via their listing on Hotels dot com. Fabulous location, lovely bar and dining area, very friendly staff. However at 0630 on a Monday morning directly outside of the bedroom windows of the coach house an overly keen gardener in ear muffs, launched his tuned, and fuel injected petrol mower into a full scale assault on the various and multiple lawns outside, with a decibel level what would have rivalled U2 in Croke Park in 2009. Furiously we banged and gesticulated on the bedroom window wrapped in nothing but towels. However he kept his head low, and simply cracked-on oblivious for another 2 hours in our locale....causing the need for a cold shower to wake up, and to head for a very early breakfast...but fair play to him however, as he was still scything away in the grounds 6 hours later...just further down the hill. Breakfast that morning was adequate/average and so we avoided the traditional and the vegetarian on the second day, but it put us off ordering evening meals there that Monday night. So we stayed in town for food before heading back to what is a beautiful and rural location. It has multiple function areas, good car parking, and an Agatha Christie atmosphere of days gone by that was very nice to wander around.....would definitely revisit.

Staff polite and helpful, room spacious and clean, breakfast excellent and went out of their way to accommodate cyclists on a very early start. Never visited the bar but looked cool. Just be careful on the last mile to the property as the road is very narrow. Golf course look in great nick but never had time to play. Another time maybe. Recommended lovely old building with great staff

Beautiful large country house in spectacular surroundings with a fantastic welcome from the gentleman at reception who couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful! A brilliant start! The room was cosy and had everything one would expect and the shower was great too! The decor was so smart and well-suited to the rest of the property. We were lucky enough to be situated in the coach house on the ground floor so we had some French doors on to a patio table and chairs which was great to relax on such a warm day. Awesome! Unfortunately breakfast wasn’t great at all. We didn’t know where to go so we made fools of ourselves twice by going into the wrong area before eventually finding the breakfast room. We weren’t directed at all and nothing was explained to us. We weren’t directed at all. The food was displayed in silver trays with lids and whilst the food looked appetising, the utensils were kept inside the containers so they were as hot as the food was. Annoying. We got our coffee, but no milk so we had to go to fetch the milk intended for the cereal servings. The fruit looked awful and it was only once we’d sat down that we noticed the bread display on the other side of the room which was very dry. We got some toast but had to ask for butter as none was anywhere else. The servers were great, but they were obviously very busy and they could benefit from some proper training in terms of how to lay the tables and then clear tables productively. Overall breakfast very poor.

Nice hotel, food was amazing and service also excellent. A lot of building work going on at the moment which was not an issue as they were very considerate and quiet.

Amazing hotel, very nice decor and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast and bar also a delight and the grounds very pretty, especially in the morning with the sun shining through the trees. Only the access to the hotel is not very pleasant, the single lane road during the dark I dread everytime I visit. I'm not used to drving on single lane roads in Wales and it's something I find painful. Maybe the solution is to find a one way system so you don't face on-coming traffic at night?

Lovely staff with a great welcome and fantastic service throughout. The room in the stable block was perfect, quiet, clean, warm and comfy. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully cooked from local produce. And what’s nicer than an evening drink in front of an open fire. Perfect
