Great hotel

Fantastic place. Such an usual juxtaposition of old and new. Wonderful bathroom equipt with Japanese toilet, heated floors huge shower and very big tub. Super comfy bed. Attentive staff.

A very upscale hotel. But I can’t recommend it wholeheartedly because of the room design, which features a white translucent bathroom- the bathroom lights up the whole room, is “semi-private” and not at all soundproof. The tech stuff was over the top, for better or worse, from a toilet seat that raised and lowered in response to any motion, a fancy bidet built in, variable colored lights in the shower and push button everything. Our room was chopped, with the bathroom in the middle, and the desk by the door. There was no place to relax except the bed. So, despite the total upscale quality of the hotel, I would not go back. Also, the entry is up a set of carpeted stairs (soggy in the rain) requiring a strong arm with the luggage. The bar and restaurant are very active at night, and on the dressy side. The entry hall, which is the restaurant entrance, is dimly lit - we had to leave at 4 AM and it was hard to see and to tote down the steps.

The staff, every single one, is fantastic - so helpful and caring. We had a double queen room yet there was only one chair and one place to put luggage. I think I would have received a second chair and luggage rack if I had asked, but in a double queen it seems obvious to me that there would be two people and I should not have had to ask for two chairs and two luggage racks. Also, I found the shampoo and shower gels difficult to use. They dispensed only a small amount at a time and then the spout did not pop up on its own for another push. I had to pop it up and then push again to get the amount of shampoo and gel that I needed. This is a small thing, but you are operating a very expensive hotel and it does not seem that it should be difficult to get the gel and shampoo. The beds were wonderful and the lighting is fine although we had trouble turning on the floor lamp and the desk lamp. The closet was fine and the safe was easy to operate. The shower was lovely although it took me a while to figure out how to make the ceiling shower work. Had we been able to access the info using the bar code we might have learned much of this, however, our phones did not have service. We did not realize that we would not have service in Canada. Please thank the staff for a wonderful stay.

It was an absolutely beautiful property

I didn’t like the 4:00 pm room check in. Also, disliked the difficulty adjusting the water temperature in the bathroom sinks and shower.
