Everything was dirty. The pool was un clean. There was some sort of mold or scum built up on the tiles. There was hair, scum and something that looked like either diarrhea or barf just floating in the water. And there weren’t kids there to blame. It was so gross!
The view from the rooftop pool was really great & the towels/chairs there are nice. But they have a weird towel system and won’t let you have a second towel. Maybe people have stolen them in the past?? I don’t know but I’ve never stayed at a “luxury” hotel that was so weird about their pool towels.
The lobby bathrooms were unclean and yucky. It’s like they’re cheap-ing out on staff to properly keep a hotel of this size in order.
Our room’s floor made our feet and socks dirty & not after a while- this was right when we got there. The shower had no conditioner in the conditioner bottle.
Speaking of the room —it was very small, tho labeled “deluxe.” We also booked a room with 2 beds and were given a single bed. The room looked out onto the barren wasteland that is this part of town.
Couldnt find stairs to take instead of the lifts, which were so slow and always packed.
Location—It’s a concrete jungle only here on this one block in Palma: no trees, no plants, nothing to liven the wide concrete that is so hot.
Everywhere else in town was pretty and had plants, trees, felt like an island! Just not here.
Mind you the buses here also seemed behind. Other parts of town generally picked up more frequently at their stops.
Theres also no restaurants or bars or grocers or coffeeshops here. Wven the coffeeshop at the hotel was never open. It was so strange.
While some of the staff at the desk were nice and the hotel bar workers were very kind and helpful, there was one very rude man at reception who was very unhelpful anytime I had a question.
The app check in is worthless. The app itself gives an email that was never answered by anyone. No one answered the reception phone in the morning either.
Was such a bad experience won’t stay at any Meliá brand hotel again.
And we checked out 3 nights early of our 6 night stay. Would have left on day one if the work conference wasn’t there. It should have been easy to leave early with all the issues we had but it was quite a hassle. In the end they did refund our money for the early checkout & provided a receipt to show they did issue the refund. So i would rate the checkout satisfactory. Dont know why we couldnt just check out on the app or even use the digital kiosk? Would have cut down on their ling lines and clearly overworked employees.
The hotel we moved to across the bay had better everything from design to happiness of workers to room size and quality and it was much cheaper per night!!!
Don’t stay at the Melia Palma Bay. It almost ruined our whole Mallorca experience. We stayed at a lovely hotel in the center of town and a wonderful hotel near the marina. We also stayed at a great hotel in Sóller so it is only this Meliá hotel that is problematic in our experience. It would be much better to take a taxi or bus daily to the conference then be stuck at this hotel for the repeat of your Mallorca experience!!
