Stayed at the Lodges because the castle was unavailable. The lodge was very outdated. Definitely not a 4 star experience. We had a beautiful view of a field of dandelions. We were treated like second class citizens throughout our brief stay. Went to the castle to check in and was told check in was at the golf pro shop. Huh? Went to the pro shop five minutes before the 4pm check time and was casually told room wasn’t ready and to come back in 30 minutes. Was promised breakfast to-go at 7:30 since our flight out of Dublin airport was early and dining service did not start until 8am. Of course, no breakfast to-go was ready when we departed at 7:45. All of other stays in Ireland were outstanding. Take my advice, stay clear of the Lodges at Kilkea Castle.

We have stayed in castle carriage rooms and this is a bit less plush .. reflected in the cost of course. Personally l think the lodges look better in the pictures than real life but that said they are clean and comfortable and good value for staying in such a beautify estate. Staff are absolutely amazing and must mention a lady called Natacha and Gentleman maybe David, in golf shop. They are both 100% the best ever. Food is typical breakfast on hotel site l guess. We love the estate and my husband really enjoyed a round of golf and some fly fishing whilst there. Did t use spa . I would add however if you enjoy whisky they are really expensive in comparison to anywhere else l have visited in Ireland 😔

Beautiful place, very clean, staff very friendly and food was very good. No pool but thermal suite was good and spa staff were lovely. Only 2 small downfalls, our bed was extremely hard, there was nowhere to get snacks except ordering a meal at the restaurant. Also no room service. But great place and would definitely go back.

Amazing hotel. Fullnof character.AMAZING staff.. Losfs to do with teens. Golf, games room, Gym, Escaprle room, rifle shoot, Archery. No ppil just adult iver 18 spa. Natcha at activity centre fantastic person. Breakfastbto doe for. Castle estoed to amazing statand.

Over all very good experience

Room wasn't quite what I was anticipating, but quite roomy. The staff and meals were great ... particularly the options and care taken for my dietary requirements.

Really enjoyed our stay here the place is stunning with loads to do. Enjoyed a couple of pints in the castle by the fire and had a great breakfast the next day. The lodges are huge and very well maintained. A real getaway

Room was perfect for my needs. The hotel grounds are just stunning Breakfast in a castle is pretty top tier! Good options for breakfast and everything was well cooked and delicious, had more a bed and breakfast feels rather than hotel with more intimate table service. I would have preferred better quality and more options with bread, rather than low quality white and brown sliced for toast that was served. I did feel this let down the breakfast. This is the only reason I dropped a star.

Terrible staff, non working appliances in the room, terrible bathroom. I just don't see anything redeemable about this property other than the grounds. This is soooo not worth the price. I wouldn't stay here for free which is saying a lot. It's apparently developed by a builder in the US. I am not sure what he's building in the US but he certainly did not build a nice property here despite all the potential.

Such an amazing experience to stay in the lodges at this beautiful castle!
