The hotel is very close to both Matsumoto Station and the bus terminal, making it extremely convenient for travelers. There are also many restaurants nearby, including Saizeriya, Matsuya, Ootoya, and others, so finding a meal is easy at any time.
I stayed at Hotel E. Matsumoto before my trip to Kamikochi, and overall I had a very comfortable stay. The hotel was exceptionally clean, which was one of the things I appreciated most.
The hotel is located on the 6th floor of a building, so you need to take an elevator from the bookstore below to reach the lobby. The elevator operates 24 hours, making access convenient at any time. One unique feature is that guests are required to remove their shoes and store them in a locker before entering the hotel. Guests are also asked to clean their suitcase wheels before entering, and cleaning supplies are thoughtfully provided. These practices likely contribute to the hotel’s excellent cleanliness.
There is a cozy communal area where guests can enjoy complimentary tea, purchase snacks, use a microwave, access a computer with internet, and borrow books or manga to read. The hotel also provides bicycles free of charge, which is a great way to explore Matsumoto.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, one thing to keep in mind is that from the lobby to the guest rooms, access is via stairs rather than an elevator or escalator. If you are carrying large or heavy luggage, you should be prepared to carry it yourself.
The only minor drawback was that sound insulation could be better. If guests in neighboring rooms were being noisy, their voices could be heard faintly from inside the room.
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel to travelers looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained place to stay in Matsumoto, especially before visiting Kamikochi.
