The area was very far from the train station up on the hill. To get up and down the hill cab drivers were charging $40 to $55 euros to go up and down the hill. So just to go to dinner would have cost around $100. They do not have a restaurant. Only option is a restaurant that will bring you the food but have to coordinate 24 hours in advance. The area and house were very nice but better to stay in town by the river that is beautiful. Unless you bring a car you are basically stuck up there with no food unless you have a car.

Absolutely beautiful location in the Douro Valley. The views from any location on the property are postcard views. The staff is very accommodating and attentive. Overall one of the most serene and tranquil places we visited in Portugal.

It’s hard to put into words how beautiful, peaceful and serene this property is. We stayed here for 2 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were very friendly, food and wine delicious, and the property was truly stunning. We spent an amazing day by the pool overlooking the gorgeous vineyard. They offer a delicious breakfast and in the evenings an amazing dinner menu. I also saw a lot of reviews complaining about the narrow roads and I feel i need to clarify for anyone worried about this - the roads were absolutely fine, there are endless spots to pull over if needed. I cannot recommend Quinta da Gricha enough to anyone looking to stay in the area. One of the most picturesque spots in the whole valley.

Quinta da Gricha is one of those special places that you sometimes stumble upon. What exquisite service. Our view overlooking the most dramatic aspect of the Douro Valley was amazing but. There was so much more. Impeccable service, custom regional dinner with wine from the estate vineyards, the beautiful natural pool that we had all to ourselves, and the lovely staff every single person whether working on the kitchen garden and the vineyards or making the breakfast or greeting us and helping us discover. This was a level above - kindness, value, and quality. We discovered something here unlike every generic hotel you’ve ever been. There is nothing like snapping a ripe orange off the tree as you watch the stunning sunset. Thank you! Obrigada!

If you want a quiet, beautiful, and restful hotel, this is it. The breakfast is amazing. One day we stayed at the property and just walked through the vinyards, picked oranges and lemons, read on the veranda and took a tour of the winery. Everyone who works here is lovely and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. It is a little bit of a drive into town, but it is worth it!

Our stay for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary was exceptional in every way! The views of the land are breath taking, walking around the beautiful property and enjoying the pool was relaxing (we had good sunny weather..the pool was on the chilly side but we and eventually 2 other couples all went in for a refreshing dip!) We really enjoyed the intimate tour of the wine making area and did a tasting, bought a 20 year tawny and 2 vintage ports ( we already had been in Porto and the valley having done several tastings and this one really was the best for us.) We had pre arranged dinner for our anniversary night and took Matheus' recommendation of the 'goat rice' and it was delicious! He paired a red wine and we were perhaps in heaven! (It was so good we shared it with the other couples at least for a taste). He arranged a wonderful surprise by inviting us back to the wine production area to release the last batch of fermenting wine in the (granite?) stone tank to be transferred to the huge stainless steel tank. What a fun and interesting experience we otherwise would probably never see! Matheus went over and above to make this wedding anniversary unforgettable. He was always prompt with emails helping to arrange dinner and transportation and so very welcoming when we finally arrived. Liked access to the kitchen for wine/coffee/tea and availability of charcuterie. Our room was perfect except the bed was quite firm, we would prefer more plush. This was the highlight of our trip!

Staying at Quinta da Gricha was a great experience. The property is beautiful, nestled on hills with beautiful vineyards. The staff are remarkably helpful and wonderful to work with. We enjoyed having dinner on the property rather than traveling to outside restaurants, and we also took advantage of the wine tasting and tour.

Our stay at Gricha was the highlight of our trip to Portugal. The Quinta was beautiful. We loved walking through the vineyards with the dogs. After venturing out in Douro for the day it was nice to have dinner available and enjoyed the wines suggested. Stay here!

The location was gorgeous with spectacular views, a welcoming fire in the fireplace, friendly helpful staff, and great breakfast spread. There were informative books in the living room that inspired us to add sights to our visit. It was a relaxing, restoring visit after lots of driving.

We had an incredible few days staying at Quinta da Gricha. The Quinta was exceptionally clean and well designed and the view was spectacular. The staff were very knowledgeable of the property, it's history and of course the port and wine making activities on the estate and provided very relaxed but informative tours and tastings. With the Quinta having only a few rooms, you are able to enjoy a very chilled and intimate experience in the Douro Valley. The staff are incredibly accommodating and provided a high level of service, even bringing us port cocktails to the pool without needing to ask for anything. The food (and of course wine/port offering) was local and excellent and whilst there isn't a huge array of options for dinner, for a 2 night stay this was not an issue. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to fully experience the Douro Valley, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Quinta da Gricha.
