All but one room are up a set of steel stairs which are outside & therefor open to the elements. When wet, these steps could be slippery. These rooms are not very good for the elderly. Carpark is a long way from entrance to the rooms. Sound proofing between rooms could be better. We found the beds too soft. Bathroom mirror too small. Wash basin HW did not stay hot for long. Bathroom light switch by exit door & only one light in the bathroom so every time one went into it at night, the extractor fan came on. Staff great. Cooking standards very good & tasty. They specialise in Taiwanese meals. Bar drinks are a reasonable price. Bar not open to the public. Restaurant open to public on Friday & Saturday.

We had a wonderful stay at the Castle Inn, the room was clean and spacious with everything you could need. Ying took spectacular care of us, from her very friendly welcome, chatting with us, to her delicious cooking. We had an evening meal plus breakfast and it was all fantastic, and in lovely surroundings - the bar and dining area is full of character. And of course, the Inn itself is surrounded by stunning countryside.

The hosts were very good and the food and accommodation was excellent.

The four hundred year old part of the property has been retained with suitable furnishings, our room was very clean, tidy & comfortable. The hosts are very friendly & helpful, the homemade food is of the highest quality, with very generous portions. We can now understand why the Castle Inn is so popular.

Stayed at this B&B for a couple of nights as we were attending a wedding. Nice property with attached bar/restaurant which is a useful as really not much else in Knucklas. Food and breakfast were decent, and owner/staff helpful and friendly.

Came to stay to go to Heyope Festival. Fantastic location so close to the festival. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room was lovely and comfortable.

We were expecting to stay in/above the pub but found that the rooms are in an annexe at the rear of the pub. Accessed from the pub garden via a metal staircase which is very slippy when wet! We were upgraded to the large family room 1 upon arrival as apparently the other rooms were cold. Our host was really welcoming and asked about reserving a table for dinner and the time we’d like breakfast. The room was however still cold on arrival but we were up to temperature in about an hour or two. The room was pleasant and very clean, as was the newly renovated en-suite. A little low on shower pressure but plenty of hot water. Larger towels please (Bath sheets) :-) Tea and coffee provided but no extra touches like bottled or filtered water, biscuits, or something for the non coffee/tea drinkers. Hot choc perhaps? Bed was on the low side with a very soft sprung mattress. Not much back support sadly and we did roll together to the centre. Pleasantly surprised by the feather/down duvet which was very cosy. The staff, service and food more than make up for any little niggles or personal preferences at this Inn and we’d definitely come back for another meal!

We arrived to a warm welcome and quickly shown to our room. Tastefully decorated, warm and comfortable with ample towels and decent sized tea cups. We had an evening meal that was well portioned, reasonably priced, wonderfully cooked and served with a smile and breakfast in the morning was an equal delight. Having found this jewel we are planning another but longer visit.
