This property is an opportunity to stay in a 14th century castle. That being said it’s not going to be spotless maybe not everything works. It is very rural so the staff may be a little sparse. You have to fend for yourself a little make sure to bring food. It’s more fitting for a backpacker or a world traveler. It is quite a hike up to the castle from parking.

Drawback: Parking was hard. Had to drop all luggages, go find a parking spot, then walk back to the beginning of the slope where leads to the hill-top entrance. There's only a very few parking at the lower slope.

Great impression, excellent staff, the room was large and spacious, with a spectacular view. It needs some repairs in the bathroom details, but overall, it was a great choice.

We had terrible weather when we visited but the property was so cool to stay in regardless. The view is spectacular, the drive up from Gibraltar was about 30mins and was very nice.

This stay was our favourite in over a month of travelling Spain and Portugal. It is so unique! The castle is stunning and the vistas are incredible. The rooms are large and quiet and the restaurant was so delicious and extremely fairly priced. We had 3 starters, 2 mains a bottle of wine and two glasses of sherry for under 75€. Cannot recommend the is stay enough!

Natural surroundings and historical ambiance were incredible. The staff was friendly and helpful. We are highly likely to return if we find ourselves in this part of the world again. A very unique hotel.

The first thing to say is 2 watch out for the signs up 2 the property there a little hit and miss we parked up in the first car park had 2 drag a heavy suitcase in the heat on cobbles very difficult there is a much higher car park with limited space but you can unload here then park the castle is really nice views outstanding golden eagles flying around i would say that a 2 night stay would be enough as not much to do apart from bird watching and walking the rooms are nice but bathroom we had needed updating if a little more was spent on this hotel it would be five star it only has 9 rooms and about 6 houses to rent we had breakfast and evening meal the breakfast is served in the hotel evening meal is in a local restaurant just yards from hotel meal service was slow only one member of staff trying to service 9 tables at once i did contact the hotel to inform them that my wife was a vegetarian they email back and said no problem they could cater but turned out they couldnt to be honest they didnt have a clue offered salad with ham on it ? REALLY they said sorry that they would get mushrooms for the next evening they didn't turn up and offered soup with egg bits floating around thats after been served chicken soup the meal was a disaster to be completely honest don't let that put you off staying here as the property really amazing front-of-house staff upon checking out I think it would be the norm to ask if everything ok did we enjoy our stay didn't even bother

We were very impressed! The castle is unique. Lots of places to explore. And the views!!! Not great for anyone with any kind of mobility issues. Dinner was very good. Staff were friendly.

It was really nice. Beautiful location and very kind people. Just keep in mind that you’re going to carry your luggage up the hill to the reception, which is not that easy. Also , the rooms are quite old, but overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful castle in a very tranquil tiny and romantic village at the top of a hill. Perfect for a romantic getaway. Great friendly service not just at the castle, but the restaurant located just outside the castle run by the hotel. Super friendly staff.

It was so cool to stay in the castle. We strolled all over the town. We parked in the lower parking lot which is really just a flat gravel open area and then we walked all the way up. It was a fun adventure. The beds are big, it was clean and just what we needed. We only spent 1 night and it may be all that is needed unless you want to make it a hub. I had backpack but my friend had a wheely bag which was challenging on the cobblestones. It’s at the top of the hill but you can drive up almost to it to drop off luggage.

The castle hotel and small town inside the castle walls was perfect. I stayed here while visiting Gibraltar and wish I had more time at hotel to enjoy it and its surroundings. What a great place to stay.

Romantic rooms inside a very old Moorish castle, nicely decorated, and beautiful views of the lake and the mountains. Staff is helpful, but not super-friendly. Very quiet, romantic location in an old white village on the top of a hill. Narrow winding road to access, and walking to the hotel is up a steep hill with uneven surface. Lovely little restaurant with specialities from the region (boar is excellent), but presented poorly (for example the avocado salad consisted of roughly cut pieces of lettuce and oranges and half an avocado).Given that in Corona times we were very few guests, there was no reason for not showing a little bit of effort overall– otherwise this place would easily gain 5 stars as a romantic getaway. Breakfast was good, though!
