We had the most amazing two-night stay in the penthouse at Gara Rock Hotel and honestly didn’t want to leave. From the moment we arrived, Patrick gave us such a warm, friendly welcome and made us feel instantly at home. Louise on reception was also absolutely wonderful and couldn’t do enough to help us throughout our stay. In the evenings, Naomi looked after us brilliantly — such a great presence and made our first evening feel special. Although we didn’t catch her name, the lovely lady who did breakfasts each morning was so warm and homely — exactly what you need to start the day. The views were simply stunning and made the whole experience even more special. The most beautiful walks!! We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay and are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable visit.

This is beautiful hotel, the staff are exceptional. The breakfast and pizza, the best ive ever eaten. But golly, its pricey...I dont mind paying but that's a step to far, even for me! I just cant justify it. I booked through Secret Escapes, else id never pay the asking price! The lift out of order and has been for long time The jacuzzi -out of order The steam room- out of order The spa showers- out of order Doesn't bode well . Bedroom is beautiful

We had the most incredible stay here for our babymoon / wedding anniversary! Having wanted to stay for quite some time now, the hotel blew us away & exceeding all of our expectations. The staff were completely committed to ensuring we had a relaxing stay and are all so friendly. The reception staff were always warm and welcoming, the restaurant staff so smiley and accommodating (especially the Kiwis!) and the spa therapists, Matt & Sophie, were incredibly talented - we had the dreamiest massage & facial treatments. We loved the little touches; the pillow menu (including a pregnancy one!), the private cinema and the hotel arrival tour. The beach is so gorgeous and peaceful, and even I made it down and up the hill just fine (albeit a bit slower than my husband!). There’s coastal views everywhere you look, from each room and the stunning restaurant (with incredible food options and daily local caught fish specials). It was such a treat sitting on our balcony overlooking the sea and local sheepdog rounding up the cows in the fields every morning. 10/10 trip for us, thank you for making it so special & pregnant friendly!

A lovely, if remote spot. Honestly, a great plus for who want a less busy holiday. Getting there is a drive and a half, but they still have all the amenities like a top hotel should. If you really crave a city visit, Salcombe is just a ferry away. The hotel's secluded beach is an easy hike down the cliff, though the final stretch is not for the infirm. Overall I had a great stay and would definitely visit again.
