On our way home, taking the scenic route

Staff didn’t interact much or seem to care. Room was not very clean. Hairs all over the bathroom and could visibly see a bleached out stain on my bed sheet from God knows what.

I should have realized this was a mistake when I asked to go to the restroom before checking in and the restroom was literally falling apart, ceiling tiles dirty and water stained. The lobby was okay, at best, but I decided to give the benefit of the doubt. I got into the room, and it had glass floor to ceiling windows that rattled when I shut the door. There was an indescribable stench in the room as well. I immediately went back to the front desk and checked out. I told the receptionist that I didn't feel safe nor comfortable. When I asked her to release the "incidental" hold on my credit card, she said that she had to call the manager and tell them that I hadn't stayed and would call me once that had been done, and the hold was released. I never got a call back. How this hotel got an Expedia rating of "7.4 Good" is absolutely beyond me. I wouldn't rate it a 0.5 Horrible as that would be generous in my opinion. One word to the wise... RUN! Do NOT book this property!!!!!

Our visit to Howard Johnson-Gallup NM was completely satisfactory. We enjoyed our visit very much. They served breakfast and the lobby has very beautiful and interesting artwork. We will be back.

Great hotel with amazing art and sculptures! The water wasn't cold but could have been hotter as I really enjoy hot showers after a long motorcycle ride.

Some really cool artwork in the lobby. Front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. The property seems a bit on the older side but totally serviceable. Our door was a bit wonky and drafty but the curtains from the window blocked most of the draft. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Heater worked well but was a bit loud and clunky turning on and off. We overslept so we missed the free breakfast but it was available. Overall a fine place to rest our heads.

Bathrooms, desperately seeking upgrades! Tub replaced with walk-in showers. Toilets are vey low to ground. Hard for senior's to (S.)S.S.. (poop), shower, & shave. Otherwise cleaning and comfort bed.

It was a every nice room

Loved the meat metal statues/ sculptures and the layout of the facility was also very interesting. Liked the place, liked the vibe, wished the pool was working while I was there.
