The Tyr Castle is a lovely old building with lots of character.Trudy is very welcoming ,and nothing was to much trouble. Food was great , cooked to Order ,piping hot on hot plates. Victor the barman and waiter was efficient and friendly.Views are spectacular , we were lucky to have a small balcony which we could sit out on. Only downside was a very small shower cubicle,but given age of property understandable. Easy parking in front of building. We had a very relaxing weeks holiday .

Great breakfast & superb meals in restaurant.

The bathroom was quite small and felt cramped, which made it uncomfortable to use. The breakfast offering was also disappointing, with very limited variety. On top of that, there were noticeable plumbing noises from other rooms, especially when toilets were flushed, which affected the overall comfort of the stay.

A lovely hotel close to Barmouth. Wonderful sea view from our bedroom. Plenty of free off road parking. Food in restaurant was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel for a great holiday.

Easy parking, fascinating building, comfy room with amazing views, great breakfast, friendly host.

The hotel was lovely, it reminded us of a national trust property and the stained glass and the views over the coastline were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room had a four poster bed in an actual turret and beautiful views of the coast out of both large windows. The breakfast had buffet options and the food itself was very good quality. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was great, some were just happy with the buffet, cereal, fruit yoghurt, toast, juices but the full english was really good and you could choose any combination of the full english, cooked fresh specially to your order. We only ate in one evening and the food was ample and beautifully cooked. Bar prices were good, not near as expensive as many hotels so nice to stay in on an evening. The original features of the hotel are wonderful, some reviews suggest modernising but that would ruin such a historic building. The only downside for me was the mattress and pillow's could use an upgrade and I prefer carpeted room but minor niggles. We will definately return.

Although the room was not cheap, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the room was very tired. Pillows were flat, windows were grubby. Breakfast options were very limited, with few healthy choices available. Most concerning was the sheer number of cameras throughout the property, which felt intrusive and quite unsettling.

Our room was extremely tired and dated, desperately in need of some tlc. Plaster from the ceiling had fallen down and was caught in the dirty blood stained linen that draped around the four poster bed, had the linen not been there then the lucky person lying underneath it would have had a nasty wake up call!! Undeniably the castle has spectacular views which is what you are paying for.
