My stay at Urbano Hotel left me with mixed feelings, but unfortunately one experience during checkout overshadowed what could have been a pleasant stay. At checkout, the receptionist had to call someone to physically go and inspect my room before I could complete the process. In my opinion, if such procedures are necessary, they should be handled more discreetly so guests do not feel uncomfortable or distrusted. What frustrated me most was the issue surrounding the water bottles. When I checked in, I was informed that water was complimentary. However, during checkout, the receptionist informed me, almost excitedly, that I had consumed two bottles of water and therefore owed 24 cedis. I was honestly shocked because I genuinely believed the bottled water provided in the room was complimentary, based on what I had been told earlier. I was then informed that only the warm bottles of water placed on the desk were complimentary, while the cold ones inside the refrigerator were not. Honestly, that made very little sense to me. In Ghana’s heat, most guests will naturally reach for the cold water in the fridge rather than warm water sitting on a desk. The bigger issue was the complete lack of communication and transparency. There was no visible price list, no minibar notice, and no explanation during check-in that the refrigerated water carried a separate charge of 12 cedis per small bottle. Without that information, the situation felt misleading and unnecessarily unpleasant.

I was met at airport by Nicholas at 5:30 am to transport me to the hotel. Check in was seamless. The accommodation met my needs and the location was very convenient. The front desk was very responsive to my request during my stay. Nicholas was there at 2 am the morning that I checked to ensure I was at the airport in time for my early flight home. Excellent accommodation for my stay in Ghana.

Rooms vary from insanely uncomfortable to huge! The junior staff/doormen/porters were excellent, but the male breakfast waiter? Hmmm... Grumpy. It is an "okay" hotel that has air conditioning, but the wifi is far from reliable... Oh!! US$20 for breakfast? Way too expensive. I am struggling to add a lot of positives. It's in a good location!

The room was comfortable although a little small. We did get the budget room, so this was not a surprise. Overall very good. They never had change, so this was a bit annoying, but also common in Ghana.

I was upgraded to the loft style which was much bigger than the standard. I enjoyed my stay here. Definitely was close in proximity to everything! I will admit the wifi was the worst part of my trip. I was rarely in my room but when I was it was very spotty. The gym..unfortunately was a disappointment also. I made the best of it.

In today’s world reliable WiFi is essential for urban hotels. Urbano Hotel never managed to supply that in the five days total I have stayed here this month. They have made numerous excuses and promises but never delivered anything other than occasional periods of WiFi coverage. If they could simply master that challenge I could stay here again, but as it has been throughout 2 stays this month, I have to say never again.

The superior (larger) room was worth the money--a better value than other hotels I've used nearby. Although kitchenette was limited, everything was in good condition, including the bathroom. Staff was helpful carrying bags (there being no lift) to top floor & back.

This was my third stay and I loved it as usual. My room attendant, Retha, was fabulous. What a wonderful young lady. The entire staff was wonderful as I know all of them at this point. My stay was marred by my neighbor smoking in a non smoking hotel. I conveyed this to the front desk, but it persisted. So the first floor of my room was smoky every time I came in from a day out, because electricity is turned off when you leave via their system. After this third visit I was bothered by something that I wasn’t the first two times. It is that the windows are not up to US standards. You can hear everything through these windows, every horn, every syllable of a street conversation, etc. But this hotel is in a great location, near a ton of places to dine, shop for groceries, clothes, street vendors, and night entertainment. I loved the gym as well. I will be back in 6 months.

There was a musty, mouldy smell in the room and bathroom (drain). Not sure if it was in the walls or drain or both. The water in the shower didn’t go down the drain either. Just swam and rose up my feet. You are charging a lot of money for that shoebox of a single room I stayed in. At least renovate and make it up to standard. Not okay. Do better.
