Room was super clean, well appointed, and in perfect order. Neighborhood is excellent for walking, eating, and very close to multiple subway and bus lines. 11/ 10 will stay again.

Amenities - well stocked. Service - the check in process was smooth with the FO Team being friendly and accommodating. Location - within walking distance to our halal eateries, so its not a problem. Area - Lawson is a must visit everyday.

At first glance the room looked clean but it was so dusty that if you touched the curtains you would get dust in your eyes! We got so sick in that room due to high dust! There are rips in the carpeting! The pillows are like rocks! I took a pot out of the draw to make pasta for my kids, the bottom on the outside was covered in grease! We were paying double the rate that other guests were paying, we spoke to them about upgrading us since we were paying top dollar, they were not interested and appeared to be hostile! I don’t like this hotel but we loved all the other hotels we stayed in in Japan

We were a little surprised how well this hotel was rated. It wasn't bad, just not as exceptional as the ratings reflect. There were only 2 pillows in the room, and when I ask for more the staff informed me there were none. At a hotel? No pillows? The room was clean enough, but not spotless. There were dirty spots on the carpet and visible dust on furniture. However, it's not a bad place. So it's tricky to rate. The location is great and it's quiet and safe. The room is spacious for Japanese standards and the shower is amazing. It was wonderful having our own washing machine. There was no iron however.

I loved this hotel. It had the best bathtub I have ever used in Japan. The layout of the room was great. It was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel!

This was a great stay in Kyoto. The room was huge which was a nice change compared to our other stays. The washer and dryer in the room was also a nice touch. Walkable to temples, shops and restaurants. I would stay here again

Perfect for a family of four. Beds were great, the space was plenty (especially for Japan), and it had great amenities like a washer/dryer, separate toilet and bathroom. And full kitchen. The location was also great: near a subway line and also close to the philosophers walk. Lawsons downstairs also helped This is a place for travelers who want higher end accomodations but don't need onsite facilities like a restaurant

A fully equipped and comfortable serviced apartment, complete with an in-unit washer and dryer located in the bathroom. I really appreciated the modern tech features in the bathtub and toilet—they were a nice touch. The infant cot provided was clean and cozy, and they even included a diaper bin, which was very thoughtful. However, there were a few downsides. The room didn’t offer much of a view, and the hanging lamp above the wall art in the living area was quite obstructive—I bumped into it multiple times. Additionally, the layout lacks separation between the bedroom and the kitchen/living space. This means if you cook, the smell lingers throughout the entire apartment. And once the baby is asleep, it’s hard to do anything else since there’s no door to block light or noise from the living area.

On duty staff could not communicate in English on check-in. When asked if we could use the bathroom when picking up our luggage prior to leaving Kyoto on check-out, the female staff on duty refused and said no. Told me that Mastay only has bathroom in suite and staff bathroom could not be used by hotel guests.

This was a spacious, comfortable and unique property in a good location. It was immaculately clean. There is a Lawson store next door and a number of good restaurants nearby. It is in walking distance to the Heian Shrine and Nanzenji Temple. Bus stops are just outside and subway stations are very close. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room is well insulated and very quiet. It has a washing machine that is supposed to also function as a dryer, but we didn’t have much luck with the dryer part. There is an enclosed balcony where you can hang clothes to dry, as well as a big closet and a pole in the bathroom. The staff was polite and competent enough in English to be helpful. Taxis had a hard time finding it and I began to use the Higashiyama Hotel across the street as a recognizable landmark.

First and foremost, the staff were very helpful and also spoke excellent english. Any time you are in another country, you should not take it for granted that you will have an easy time communicating, and my review would still be 5 stars without it. Staff are able to assist with restaurant reservarions, transportation, and luggage courier services. A short walk from the subway, transport to kyoto station and nara were simple. Short walk to multiple temples. Short walk to pontocho dining street and lots of other hreat restaurants.
