Lets stary with the atmospehere. The resort was worth the 8000 plus mile trip to spend with my wife. Your resort fit everthing i was looking over other much more modern options. It gave exactly the feel i was looking topped with yhe breath of God coming off the lake was amazing. The staff was exceptionally special toward all we experienced even when we were relaxing on the wrap around balcony enjoying the fire a cat some how made her home above and decided to give birth to kittens and your staff handle it very well. We enjoyed ourselves so much we extended our stay and went real estate shopping. I cant thank youll enough and will say i admire the improvements being made while we were there. Thank You Again The Calhoun's

Attentive staff despite mediocre food, armed men everywhere due to a VIP guest, noisy property, no hot water for shower nor for a cup of macchiato! Kuriftu? What is happening

Very friendly and efficient staff. Stunning view overlooking Lake Tana and availability of boat trips. Comfortable and clean accommodation. Only downside was that they visit to the Blue Nile and waterfall wasn't possible due to external influences.

No internet available, mice in our room, poor service. There are better options in Bahir Dar - go to the Blue Nile for ease of vacation, kuriftu is good only if you want to disconnect from the world completely.

Our stay was pleasant. The hotel has a Flint Stone feeling. Clean, Quiet, Relaxing, staff are attentive. Pro: The lake view, central and safe location, the free MASSAGE is priceless, Clean and eco-friendly rooms, free airport shuttle, free breakfast Cons: Wifi was nonexistent. None of us were able to respond to our work emails, very irritating. The pool is dirty green/ algae (We had children who wanted to swim), restaurant food is 5/10, food service takes at least an hour or more to be served even for the simplest cup of tea and the food is not that good. Our group of 11 split and went to an outside restaurant after a couple of days of unpleasant experience, when we return from lunch the other half is still waiting for their order. The room key is single if you are couple.

Great location with views of Lake Tana and close walking distance to town center. Spacious rooms with nice terrace where you can relax with a wood burning fire in the evening. Very friendly staff. However, property could be updated a bit. Wifi is weak unless you’re in the lobby - need signal boosters. Shower has no water pressure, and little regulation of hot and cold. Doors do not shut or lock easily (bar serves as lock once inside), and while rooms are sprayed, mosquitos do get into the room requiring manual spraying. Hotel does offer netting for beds which is good.

Hotel location I’d wonderful, next to lake. The property is quirky, with stone buildings and tress. We could not connect to wifi during our stay. We had to move from our first room as it had no hot water and was next to the main road.

We stayed at this lovely place 2 nights. It was easy to book trips on the lake to the monastries and to Blu Nile from the site. The outside bar was a beautiful place with a wonderful view. The restaurant and the hotel are the best in town. The wifi was ok. If you go there, find time to take a walk on the path just under the bar to the smal local harbor and have a coffee or beer there.

The place was built with incredible originality and love, but must now have a different owner as there is no style or attention to detail in much of anything. The reception is dark and somber, the rooms very unclean around the edges, and the exposed incandescent bulb the lighting of choice. The fish at the restaurant is cooked to something resembling jerky, which itself feels like the vast dining hall of an all-inclusive resort. It seems there is no one around really running the show, and the English and training level of the staff is outright poor. There’s certainly worse, but it’s sad to see a place with such lovely potential operated by someone who seems to have no clue how to run a hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel and could be really lovely. Unfortunately the hotel is quite dysfunctional. Despite emailing three times and being assured that every flight was met, I was the only person on the flight not picked up by shuttle. While they then upgraded my room as a gesture, this was only the first issue. I was told the hotel was fully booked and I couldn’t stay the next night (despite availability online). This meant I had to cancel a trip that was planned for the next morning. It was only later that morning they admitted they had made a mistake and had availability, despite my raising it the afternoon before. The staff try hard but lack training. Sitting down at the restaurant I would only get a menu each time after asking twice and waiting 30 minutes. The food was okay but some dishes are not cooked properly. Unfortunately the lack of basic information and poor service makes what should be a nice place to stay, quite a stressful place. The hotel also was very unhelpful providing basic information about travelling. I asked 4 times about onward travel to Gondar. It was only after a lot of trying that they told me the information about buses. I think the hotel doesn’t want independent travellers and wants to charge a premium to book everything privately for you. With a little effort this could be so lovely! The massage which is included in the stay was lovely!

Great location right on Lake Tana. Excellent service. Food at restaurant was just OK. Friendly and very polite staff. Free massage was a plus but masseuses need more training. Will definitely stay at this resort again.

Our stay at Kuriftu was our favourite in Ethiopia. The resort was beautiful, with a lovely view over Lake Tana. Our room was very comfortable and we were even given an upgrade with an upstairs room, it had a view of the lush garden and also Lake Tana. The hotel was very clean throughout and we ate regularly at the restaurant where the staff were very attentive and the food was good. There were occasions where the full menu wasn’t available but this didn’t distract from the experience. We took advantage of the free massages which were a nice bonus. The pool area was lovely and clean and we really enjoyed spending time relaxing either on the loungers and the couches which overlooked the lake. WiFi was a bit hit and miss, as was the water which was cut off on occasion but again this didn’t particularly impede on our time there and perhaps wasn’t necessarily the hotel’s fault. Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend Kuriftu if you are planning on visiting Bahir Dar.

Our stay at Kuriftu was fabulous. We enjoyed the free massages and the staff were friendly and helpful on the whole. The room was fabulous, spacious and comfortable. Occasional power and water outages, but these were very brief. We’d definitely recommend this hotel. It was our best stay during all of our time in Ethiopia.
