Not what I would call a four star hotel, however very pleasant. Room was warm and comfortable. I have evening meal which was very nice. The location is somewhat remote but not in a negative way. All the stall were very polite and attentive.

The food in the restaurant was good, but the stay in the hotel was below par. Even how the hotel is quiet and the sea view was nice, the room was old, the kettle was in bad shape, the mattress was worn out and bugs were fond a bit everywhere, especially in the bed. In addition, some kind of a to-go breakfast should have been provided, even though we ordered it the night before, nothing was available for us when we left.. Overall do not book an accommodation here.

I spent 7 nights here while touring Orkney and enjoyed my stay. The place is very clean, modern, welcoming, relaxing, comfortable, and focuses on customer service. My room had several touches that made it a pleasure to stay in every night, and the restaurant offered consistently good food. There is a lot of pride of ownership in the place. The location is a little off the beaten track, but then the main island isn't that big and a bus runs nearby if you don't have a car.

Did not stay here but went twice for evening meals when on our short break staying at the gorgeous VitaVer B and B nearby. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, a good choice of dishes to choose from 2 different menus. Highlights were the fish and chips, tex mex burger and chicken balmoral main meals and we also had delicious desserts a chocolate torte and a ginger pudding! Portions were big and very filling and food was excellent! Lovely lounge area to sit in.

Could do better We popped in for a quick lunch on our way to the ferry. Had to sit in the bar area as we had our dog with us so can't comment on the restaurant. Good bit first: I had the Cullen Skink, one of the starters. Very tasty and I enjoyed it. Now for the not so good bits. The Cullen Skink should have come with a crusty roll. It didn't. It came with a soggy granary roll that had been microwaved to warm it up. Not pleasant. The ham sandwich that my wife had was also not particularly good, the ham was processed factory ham and the lettuce in the garnish that came with it appeared to be fairly limp and ancient. Now the worst bit. We had ordered tea for two. Where in most other places you normally get a decent sized pot with at least 2 teabags and an additional pot of hot water this was different: we got a small teapot containing 1 teabag, it yielded 2 small cups of tea and we were charged £5.50 for it. Extremely stingy. I first thought it was a mistake but when I asked the waitress about it she said that is what they do They have even smaller teapots for tea for one. Maybe with half a teabag in it? So hence the title: Could do better! Crisp the roll up in the oven, use a bigger teapot and at least 2 teabags and use proper ham and fresh lettuce in the sandwiches. Shouldn't drive the costs up too much and significantly increase customer satisfaction.
