I only stayed one night as a break in the middle of a long journey and really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable and the staff extremely helpful. They helped me with my luggage (I am disabled) and parking was great. The restaurant next door is very convenient, with a pleasant coffee area, and again the staff there are very helpful.

It was wonderfully appointed. We had a bedroom at the back, a beatiful setting! So quiet! We didn’t see the staff much, but when we did they were really helpful. We would definitely stay again. I

We would rate our stay as 3 stars at best. Our room faced the main road beyond the car park and, whilst it was generally clean and reasonably presented, was noisy. The sash windows only have single glazing so even with the window shut you can still hear the traffic from the busy road. Earplugs were provided, so it is obviously a known problem. The bed in our room was not that comfortable either, probably due to the age of the mattress, which made us roll towards the middle. We were there for 3 nights, so did use some of the tea bags provided. Unfortunately we found that tea bags were not replaced daily on a like for like basis i.e. the 'everyday' style tea bags we like were replaced with camomile tea bags some days, which we do not like. We never saw any staff to try and resolve this at the time. Anyone wanting breakfast has to go and make their own arrangements at the restaurant attached to the hotel. It would have been nice to have the option to book breakfast at the same time as the accommodation, perhaps discounted if you are staying at the hotel.

Room it’s comfy, clean! Parking space in front, easy to find. Pet friendly and very close to New Forest and Highcliff beach. I recommend

Hotel was in a good location and room was nice. A couple of the fittings need attention and the cleaners did not replace “consumables”. It is a self checkout so can’t rate the stafff. Overall a good stay

Linzi couldn’t go for a poo as there was no bog roll! She had to hold it in for hours and then let out a massive fart that shattered the window. One of the horses nearby fell over

Rustic yet classic. I only spent 1night but will definitely return to enjoy this germ in the New forest.

Lovely rooms, ours had a lot of space and a seating area. Lovely grounds to take a stroll in. A short distance to lots of our favourite places

Bedding was dirty the centre of the duvet cover had what looked like a feaces stain which i photographed as the hotel was unmanned.

The room was nice and clean. There was plenty of parking. Breakfast was very expensive so I didn't bother with it and found somewhere else local to get my breakfast.

On arrival the place felt calm and set in a beautiful area, the staff were lovely and very friendly, I cannot fault their service at all. The room was fabulous, everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable with great views of the grounds. The shower was amazing and it was the perfect place for my night away for my birthday. Cannot recommend it enough, wonderful place.

Food was excellent. Loads of secure parking spaces. My only complaint was that Room 3 didn't have a chest of drawers so that I could unpack. As an aside I was bitten to death by moquitos? on the night before I left {I believe it was a habit of the cleaning staff to leave the windows open a few inches during the day}

The retreat is quite an old building but nice inside. I was unaware of any lift indoors which made climbing stairs difficult for people with mobility challenges.
