Bare as your foot. Luxury, where?
Dos Mares markets itself as a barefoot luxury experience, but guests should know what that means in practice before booking.
The staff was genuinely friendly and accommodating. However, the property feels absolutely underprepared as a hotel. Rooms are minimalist to the point of lacking basics: no seating, no TV, no safe, and no in-room WiFi — only available in the hallway, which is a significant issue for anyone needing to work remotely.
Practical details worth noting: the shower has no barrier from the sleeping area, blackout curtains don't fully block light at the sides, and the terrace door lock was non-functional, leaving the room accessible from the street. We arrived to find sand on the sheets, humid bedding, and only 2 shower towels for 4 guests — no beach towels provided. Toilet paper and storage were also insufficient.
The building itself has a raw, unfinished concrete aesthetic that fits the barefoot concept but may not suit all travelers.
Best suited for guests who truly need nothing beyond a bed and a location.
