The Carmel Beach Hotel is located south of Ocean Ave. it is one block from the beach in a beautiful neighborhood. The hotel itself is well appointed and very clean. Nice bar and breakfast served on the patio. It could improve the TV cable selection and the water flow is too restrictive.

When I booked this hotel, I made it clear I was visiting to celebrate my birthday in Carmel and asked for advice on which room to choose since I’m a light sleeper and struggle with insomnia. They said they couldn’t guarantee anything but would try to accommodate me. Instead, I was shocked to be given the noisiest room. One window faced the lobby, with guests constantly passing by. The other window and wall faced the outdoor restaurant, where diners were literally inches from our room. We couldn’t open any of the blinds. As a result, we were kept awake by staff working at the restaurant, and endure people talking loudly just an inch away from our ears. This is simply unacceptable. The room looked recently renovated, but none of that made up for a terrible stay. I expected far better and left disappointed. For a weekday rate of $600 per night, you’re better off booking somewhere else that truly delivers a premium experience.

This hotel was beautiful and the location was stunning. A quick walk to the beach, very quiet area. The turndown service was so nice to come back to after a day/night out. Fresh cookies in room every night. The shuttle service into town was something my boyfriend and I took advantage of, given our drive to Carmel was 6-7hrs, last thing we wanted to do was drive everywhere. We were definitely happy about this amenity. The fresh water and sparkling water in room was also very convenient. It might have been just my room but the water pressure was slightly disappointing but other than that it was a restful and magical stay. P.S. if you park in the back, be careful of raccoons by trash at night.

Underwhelming & Overpriced - Not 'Pet Friendly' We booked Carmel Beach Hotel because it was listed as pet friendly and looked great. Unfortunately, that description is totally misleading. They charged $273 for a dog ($250 pet fee + tax on the pet fee) with zero amenities or effort to make us feel welcome. No water bowl, treats, or pet-friendly vibe—just a HUGE extra charge. I wasn’t aware of the huge pet fee when booking, and when I was informed and asked to cancel, the manager said we’d be charged for one of our two nights. Not great customer service. The room was good-sized and had a soaking tub, but the water pressure was low, the carpet was dingy, and the noise level was unacceptable—you can hear everything: conversations, rolling suitcases over the bricks, even raccoons fighting outside over the garbage. Room 6 is especially bad as it's right above housekeeping/maintenance. Also, the window coverings don’t block light, so I had an early wake-up call from the sun. The property is okay, but the “lawn” is fake plastic turf. The beach is close, but if you want to walk to town, it’s 15–20 minutes in the dark—no sidewalks or streetlights. They did offer a car service until 9:45PM. Bottom line: it’s not pet-friendly, not welcoming and relaxing, and definitely not worth the price. There are much, much nicer hotels in Carmel for this price point. Wouldn't stay again

Great hotel! Room 11 and 12 are the best IMO. Only complaint is ambient light. The thermostat specifically was quite bright. Bring a sleep mask

The location of this hotel was great! Just a short walk down the street to Carmel Beach. The room was very nice, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, and we had our bed turned down and cookies left for us each afternoon. I highly recommend this hotel.

Need water bottles that you can open. Regular coffee pods in room not expresso machine. Overhead fan. Too stuffy in room

Would have liked to have access to a microwave, either in our room or in the lobby. Had to ask staff to warm an item for us and they had to take it to the laundry area.

This place is literally less than a block away from the beach. The beach walk is very scenic and beautiful. Also included a shuttle to ocean ave and a gym. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms themselves were just OK, however it had a great view and Nescafe in them. An OK room with great coffee and a stellar view. I'll take that. Lol

Nathalie at the front desk was super warm and knowledgeable. Hotel offers complementary transportation around town (Dennis was very professional) , which made going into town much easier (parking can be hard to find on Ocean ave). Carmel Beach Hotel exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be back for a longer stay next time!
