I stayed at Sapa Yen Hotel for two nights (10–12 April) in a Deluxe Mountain View room on the G floor. If you are looking for a scenic, "no-frills" stay that prioritizes nature and peace over luxury amenities, this is the place to be.
The View:
The highlight of this hotel is undoubtedly the view. From both my room and the hotel restaurant, you have a direct, unobstructed sight of the Fansipan tram passing by at intervals. It is a truly mesmerizing sight to behold and makes the stay feel very special.
Location & Accessibility:
• The Walk: Be prepared for a bit of a walk, especially if you have luggage in tow after alighting at the Sapa Visitor Centre. It’s a bit of a trek, but once you see the view from the property, the effort pays off completely.
• Transport Tip: I highly recommend renting a motorbike from the shop right next door. It is much more cost-effective for visiting O Quy Ho Pass and the Rong May Glass Bridge.
• Note on Grab: I found that Grab drivers (especially bikes) are often reluctant to come into the hotel’s specific location. They would frequently cancel after I had waited for some time, so having your own wheels is almost essential here.
Room & Facilities:
The room is comfortable but minimalist. It’s important to note that there is no TV in the room, which suited me fine as I preferred to soak in the mountain scenery, but it's something to be aware of if you enjoy evening entertainment.
Dining:
The breakfast experience was great. It is made-to-order for the main dishes, while drinks (coffee, tea, juices), salads, fruits, and condiments are self-service.
• Tip: The outdoor tables facing the tram tracks are the most popular seats in the house. Even under the scorching sun, they are almost always occupied because the view is just that good!
Verdict:
For a solo traveler, Sapa Yen is highly recommended. It offers a unique, tranquil experience without unnecessary frills. I would definitely stay here again for that view alone!
