Small room but just what we needed. Loved the heated bathroom floor.

Dinner at the facility and the morning breakfast (included in the stay) were delicious. The restaurant building is historic and cozy. Delightful!

Unfortunately, this property offered me no help in getting to the venue when the bus dropped me at the shopping centre 5 mins drive away. I think it’s pretty poor that they didn’t try to pick me up. I couldn’t get a taxi, and was stranded in the cold & rain. Luckily a local bus driver took pity, went off his route & dropped me at the venue. I’ve been at other guest houses who have picked me up from public transport. Caring for your customers is a BIG part of hospitality.

The common areas were nicely furnished, the breakfast and staff were very good. Our room was quite small and no in-room coffee or tea. Mostly ok but expensive,

An historic small hotel with a great & convenient location in northern Bohuslän. Very personal and nice service! Sorry to say but my dinner rained in as the restaurant is located in a different building. That's ok, I will be back! Maybe for julbord...

Super friendly and efficient staff. A charming historic and conveniently located hotel. Nice front patio for sitting outdoors and enjoying a cold drink on a summer day. Two small things I would improve: (1) there was no rack for my suitcase, so I had to keep it on the floor; (2) it would be nice to have separate shampoo and bath soap instead of a single dispenser with "soap" in the shower. I would be happy to stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel, situated on pleasant grounds. Comfortable chairs outside and on the lobby encourage relaxation and conversation. BUT perhaps it was just the night we were there but the dinner was a buffet offering a rather meager selection of nondescript seafood which cost us (for two) about $175! So check it out before you commit.

I definitely love this hotel. Although it is a little pricy, it is decorated so beautifully and just like a nice home. When we checked in, the lady gave us a warmly welcome and a detailed introduction about the town and surroundings. The little notes in the yard and in the room introduce the owner's family and trees and location...... I am so happy to read all of them! The hotel is only less than 10 minute drive to the sea. Very convenient. The breakfast is so good with many foods. I will surely recommend to my friends!

No luggage racks or shelving for personal items in Bathroom

Tanums Gestgiferi was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and breakfast buffet excellent. The location is very convenient and well within walking distance to the town's grocery store, and even to the Vitlycke Museum, if you are up to braving the narrow road without a sidewalk (I did). If I had been staying longer I would have liked to have a small fridge in the room to store perishable food items. Other than that, it is a very nice accommodation, just expensive for a budget solo traveller.

Tanums Gestgifveri used to be a fantastic facility. Excellent food and a very romantic setting. It has been downgraded to a standard below what you expect from a $20.00 motel. The food was hated up chewy mussels probably cooked early that morning or the day before, the main cource consisted of dry fish complemented by something similar to rice porridge. A HUGE disappointment and an embarrassment for a swede proud of the hospitality business in my old homeland!

nice cute classic Swedish style hotel just off the main motorway near the Swedish / Norwegian border, 5 mins from the motorway, ample parking. Warmly greeted, usual basic features and good wifi. My radiator didn't work in my room and I did not bring it to their attention as it wasn't that cold the night of my stay, but room was comfortable despite this issue.Breakfast standard fayre but more than adequate. Nice little stopover would use again and recommend it. Romantic enough for the other half too for a night. Don't expect too much activity in the town or hotel if arriving late during the week.

Interesting traditionally furnished hotel, with very good restaurant. Room was ccomfortable, if lacking coffee/tea-making facilities. A hook for the shower attachment over the bath would be useful. Tanum itself has little of interest but is reasonably central for other sites and coastal villages.

We chose Tanum's Gestgifveri because it is close to the Tanum stone carvings. We returned for a second night because we weren't able to view all the sites with stone carvings near Tanum in one day. A clean, comfortable hotel with the ambiance of a country inn.

We stayed at Gestgifveri because it was the closest hotel to the Tanum stone carvings. In addition to the location, it had the feel of an older, one-of-a-kind hotel that we really like. Established in 1663, it has been renovated many times since. The current hotel struck us as pre-war rural inn; nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. The stone carvings are not to be missed. We spent so much time looking at them that we booked a second night at Gestgifveri so we could view all the sites.

In an era of homogenous chain hotels, it is rare to find an independent property that offers real quality. If you like a genuine Swedish hotel, with friendly people running it, then book this one. The breakfast was particularly nice, no generic scrambled eggs and bacon, but a proper Nordic selection, including 4 types of Sill (herring.) If passing this way again, I would book without hesitation. The hotel is located quite near to the E6 between Gothenburg (about 150km) and Oslo (about 160km), which is why I chose it and this makes it very convenient for travellers visiting both cities and needing to stay the night in-between. Definitely recommended.
