The B&B El Olivar was fantastic. The room was clean and well appointed, the location of the B&B was nice, and most of all Joseph was a fantastic host. He was very helpful with recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Joseph even helped us out on our return trip through Lima when we had a very long layover but weren't staying overnight. If you travel to Lima and want to stay in San Isidro, I heartily recommend B&B El Olivar.

It's a bit of a funny story. I was going to visit Peru after an absence of 11 years. I wanted to have dinner with a family and I asked the lady to recommend a hotel to me. She said there was a nice hotel, El Tovar, near her home. I went straight to the internet, found a hotel with a similar name, and booked it through Expedia. The next morning when she failed to show up to have breakfast with me, I called her and she was waiting for me at the other hotel. The owner and manage, Joseph, was so nice to me that when I returned to Lima on my way back to the USA, I stayed there again, this time intentionally. It's an older hotel and could do with some upgrades but Joseph and his staff make up for any deficiencies. I'd stay there again without any hesitation. Right across the street is a lovely park like area where people are strolling along or sitting on park benches. Sound good? Try it the next time you're in Lima.

I rally liked how the place felt like home. I mean, I was relaxed. Going to hotel is ok but I never feel fully comfortable. The room was very clean and the staff were fabulous. They were so nice and were "johnny on the spot" when I needed anything. Location is excellent! Safe and walking distance to many places. I even liked walking to the grocer that was not in the neighborhood because it was so much fun to look at the area. The B&B has these awesome rusty red marble floors that you see as soon as you come in. They have an enclosed patio that is so nice to have breakfast in. Large TVs and internet were also great. I requested fruit and fresh breads with American coffee for breakfast and it was wonderful. It was classy yet comfortable. Host was extremely knowledgable and lots of fun. The place itself sits in a grove of olive trees started by the original Spaniards over 500 years ago.
