The staff are lovely and the location is great The rooms are dated and need refurbishment. The bed was uncomfortable and the king size bed was covered with two small sheets rather than one big one. The sink had a big crack in it. I wouldn’t have sold that room with that sink. There’s a lot of noise from restaurant patrons leaving and the people in the rooms above made a lot of noise at 2am. The restaurant is amazing and made up for the room. However, breakfast on the weekend is from 8am which is not acceptable in this day and age. We had to leave without eating.

Due to a delayed flight, I arrived very late (nearly 1am), but they still managed to leave my room key in an accessible place as the reception was closed. Rooms was spacious and comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. When in the area again, I will stay in this Hotel.

Wonderful visit and fabulous hotel

The staff of Expedia and its subsidiary companies seem to have a difficulty to understand my way of thinking, or are simply "thick"! I have stated repeatedly, that I will not write any evaluations of hotels where I stayed, until a report about the Sunway Lost World resort near Ipoh Malaysia, where I spent three days in August 2018 has been published! An offer of a free nights accommodation does not change my opinion !

We really enjoyed our stay here. The only downside was that our trip coincided with the cobbled pavement being replaced outside the hotel which was under our window. Otherwise a very peaceful place and the food was excellent.

An absolutely fantastic stay in a wonderful location. We broke our journey to Berlin. Romantic , magical for us.A hotel next to a castle,in a Wald (a forest) so with great walks. Fabulous food an excellent dinner in the evening. Very helpful friendly staff. Great service. We will certainly return in spring ....I proposed here

Beautiful setting. Lovely walks thru local woods with some lovely scenic Vistas. Very good restaurants, friendly staff. Towns like Hamelin and retln easy drive away.

I'm pretty sure we were the only guests staying they didn't speak German but the staff made us feel welcome and spoke English very well. The room was cosy and nice and quiet.

Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Like the surrounding area and castle on hotel premise.

Lovely location opposite an old Castle. Many walks in the surrounding woods with fantastic views and very clean air. The hotel is very clean, with very friendly staff and superb parking outside the front. The restaurant is very high quality with some innovative yet traditional dishes. Overall an excellent stay over near the A2 if you are travelling near Hannover. Highly recommended.

This hotel is in a beautiful location next to a castle. We arrived late, but there was restaurant staff available to check us in. Breakfast was included and amazing. Lots of selection. We also had some coffee to go. The WiFi in our area was spotty but manageable. Would. Recommend this hotel.

Excellent service, clean and located in a beautiful area by the castle and forest hiking trails. Two of the finest meals I can recall and the host/waiter Ralph is stellar and the ultimate professional. He made our stay fun and memorable. Thank you Ralph.

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting the local Xmas markets. The hotel is in the middle of the forest with great walks and scenery. It is next to the schaumberg castle. Buffet breakfast was great, staff where very helpful and the rooms were spacious and clean. You would need a car as the hotel was about 40 mins from Hannover airport, we were touring round the area and visited Rinteln , Hannover and hessich oldendorf ... all lovely towns.

We enjoyed our one night stay, driving back from our holiday. Joined the Knight-dinner party which was conveniently held that evening. Love the castle, you should definitely climb the tower.

A lovely hotel not far from motorway, brilliant breakfast great value. Very clean.

Perfect in every way! Dream trip for my wife. Can we stay forever? Beautiful area, hotel, room, and food! The Castle just steps away and right out our window! Even the rain and cold couldn't take away how great it was!

A great escape. The castle is open to the public and you can climb the old guard tower (XIIIth century, 50m tall maybe) free of charge. Hotel's restaurant is tasty but pricey.

Fantastic stopover on a drive from Calais to Berlin. We arrived very late after the restaurant had closed but the staff still made a lovely supper for us. Highly recommended.

A pleasant hotel out in the countryside but rather difficult to find. Good parking. Some English speaking staff. Were not warned that the restaurant was serving Thai food that week.
