Geographically, England's territory covers only 2/3 of the island of Great Britain and takes place in the central and southern parts. It is bounded on the north by Scotland and on the west by Wales. Hills, beaches, rivers, and lakes make up the topography. Lake Windermere is the largest lake in the area.

Tidal currents run through many waterways in England, including the Thames. The London Bridge connects the city of London to Southwark above it. Tower Bridge, one of London's symbols, is located in the center of this bridge.
