You Should Also Know This

Large luggage such as suitcases cannot be brought onto the tour vehicle. Please make sure to carry it in your carry-on luggage.
Temperatures near the summit of Mauna Kea can reach 0 degrees. We will provide cold weather gear, but please make sure to bring long sleeves (fleece or sweater), long pants, and comfortable shoes.
The road to the summit of Mauna Kea is very bumpy and winding. If you are worried about getting carsick, we recommend taking motion sickness medication beforehand.
Tour courses may be changed without prior notice due to weather, regulations, or other circumstances.
Please note that the price does not include gratuity.
The Summit Road to the top of Mauna Kea may be closed without notice due to weather conditions.
If the gate to the summit of Mauna Kea is closed upon arrival at the Onizuka Center, we will refund $200.
If the guide determines that you were unable to see both the sunset and the starry sky due to weather or local conditions, we will refund $100.
Please drink plenty of water on the day of the tour. We also recommend that you refrain from smoking and eating foods that produce a lot of gas (beans, onions, etc.) before participating. In addition, those who have scuba dived the day before, consumed alcohol before participating (within 12 hours), have high blood pressure, heart disease, respiratory disease, are taking medication, are receiving medical treatment from a doctor, or are pregnant cannot participate.
Please wear long pants and comfortable sneakers. We will provide winter jackets, but the summit will be below freezing, so please bring a sweater or jacket.
