Ranong has been a familiar province to me since childhood — it’s my mother’s hometown. During every school holiday, we’d travel there almost every year. Back then, Ranong was still a small, quiet province that many people hadn’t even heard of. It's hard to believe that now, Ranong has become a trending destination, filled with stylish hostels and cozy cafés.

ที่เที่ยวระนอง เกาะพยาม

These days, traveling to Ranong is much easier, thanks to the increasing number of direct flights. I book your flight to Ranong via Traveloka, which made everything even more convenient. Back when I was a kid, the journey would take 8–9 hours by car since Ranong is a small province nestled in the mountains, and the roads weren’t as developed as they are today! Now, you can hop on a direct flight with AirAsia or Nok Air and get there in just about an hour and a half. Spending 2–3 days exploring Ranong city is a great idea too — even though it's a small province, it offers many charming attractions and hidden gems worth discovering.

Best Time to Visit Koh Phayam

ที่เที่ยวระนอง เกาะพยาม

The ideal time to visit Koh Phayam is between October and May, when the Andaman Sea is calm, the water is clear, the rain decreases, and the weather is pleasant with clear skies. This period offers the best conditions for relaxation, enjoying the sea breeze, and experiencing the natural beauty of Ranong province.

Summer (March – April):
During this period, the weather is hot and dry with minimal rainfall. It’s perfect for those who want to sunbathe and swim in the sea.
Winter (January – February):
The temperature drops slightly, and the weather is cool and comfortable. This time is ideal for relaxation and enjoying the natural scenery.

2. Seasons to Avoid

Rainy Season (May – September):
During these months, heavy rain is common, and the sea can be rough. Travel may become inconvenient, and some sea activities might be restricted.

Lastly, we highly recommend renting a motorbike or bicycle to watch the sunset at Ao Yai, the largest bay on the island (true to its name). It’s a great spot to enjoy the beautiful sunset as it’s not crowded, making it a peaceful and perfect moment. If you're staying at Blue Sky, renting a motorbike is recommended because the distance can be quite long. Ao Yai is one of the best places on the island to catch the last light of the day. The tranquil atmosphere, with only locals and a few foreigners seeking a chill vacation, makes Koh Phayam a wonderful place for those seeking a calm and rejuvenating getaway.
