The Hydro Majestic is a beautiful historic hotel which I love but some may find some of the rooms on the small side. We stayed in a Belgravia king room which was really spacious and elegant. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot and pressure great. The bathroom was very small but that's how things were in the past. The decor of the hotel is gorgeous.....beautiful velvet upholstery on lounges and chairs. We also enjoyed high tea in the Wintergarden restaurant which has stunning mountain and valley views. The hotel has interesting historical items dating back to the early days of it's operation on display in the cafe, was fun to see. A really enjoyable one night stay.

The Positives: An amazing, historic stay. If you get the rooms with the view it is stunning. The beds are superb. A fabulous meal and staff in the Wintergarden. EV charging - of sorts. Not so great: The staff we encountered in the Bistro & Bar were bordering on hostile. The food and drinks selection is minuscule there. Make sure you book well ahead of time for the Wintergarden, it took us two days to get in. The whole hotel is old and historic, and this comes at the price of comfort, the place is poorly insulated so if you visit in winter, prepare for it. Of the three EV chargers (bonus points for having something), only one works (CCS2). The second one is broken. The third one requires your own Mennekes cable and charges at 2kW (trickle charging). I would encourage the staff to care about this, fix the broken charger but importantly, set up simple system that allows people to communicate when they are moving cars and who’s in next line. Should not be hard if they maintain a book, first in first served, write down name and mobile so they can be texted. But overall super enjoyable!

Very disappointed. Having wanted to go here for years but we were very let down . A pretty and spectacular front foyer and reception room where they serve high tea , breaky and speciality dinners - everything from there downhill . The service was almost zero in the cocktail lounge lining up like cattle to order a drink , tables full of dirty cups and plates , again had to find someone to wipe the table and we removed the dirty glassware ourselves , the carpet stairs up to our floor in the Belvedere wing were dirty like they hadn’t been cleaned forever . Arrival to our room to find it looked nothing like the pic on the website . The carpet was again dirty and there were even bits of biscuit laying under the table . A thick layer of dust on side table and bedside lamps . Batteries dead in tv remote . Just a real let down . I did report to reception and they did offer to move rooms but it was a lower standard room on a different wing as it was all they had available. We just said we would stay where we were if they sent housekeeping to clean the room - they thought was great idea and gave us a voucher for a glass of wine while we waited . We went out to dinner elsewhere after discovering that all that was on offer was a 3 course a’la carte menu at a cost of $199 pp - or a cheese platter in the cocktail lounge . When we returned the room had not been touched . We will never return and I’m very sad about that because the heritage and nostalgia of this property is incredible

Nice place to stay but not very disability friendly. There is no lift so you may need to navigate multiple flights of stairs to reach the upper floor rooms. This can be quite challenging to people with a disability.

Matchbox size room, no shire curtains only block out which made the room very dark, tea and coffee bad quality, requested better room even if l had to pay but reception ignored my request, pay a lot of money for a third class accommodation, never again will stay there.

Always wanted to stay at the Hydro Majestic and it was amazing. The views were majesterial along with the setting and history. The main menu was pricey but we met an amazing lady called Sarah who ran the pavilion cafe, the best coffee and service in the blue mountains. We missed out on dinner reservations, that’s how popular it is! There was no judgment or issue getting take away from many of the amazing places in Katoomba, like Rustico, and having that in one of the many spaces within the complex. Overall great service, blanket was super human tucked and amazing location and piece of Australian history. Would definitely return for a stay

The staff looked sullen and bored, dripping tap in the very old fashioned bathroom, tiny room, not even a box of tissues and wardrobe space for about two items. Nothing major but felt tired and cheap. I wouldn’t go again.

Historic hotel is well located between Katoomba and Blackheath so very easy drive to many sites. Due to age of hotel rooms a little small but functional, the decor even older was well maintained and cosy. Only cons room had to be cleaned again before we accepted it, however the management reacted well and solved the problem. Staff friendly however suggest a bit of training in customer service will work to help make this hotel even better. Overall would recommend this hotel.

It is a nice lovely old hotel. However needs to be renovated and I don’t think it’s worth the costs. Some staff were not friendly or helpful. The road noise was terrible and the noise from the train tracks that are right near the hotel were also an issue.

For the price the breakfast was very poor. As a vegetarian I was surprised to see bacon in the beans. No grilled tomato, no hash browns, limited fruit. Good range of pastries and the omelet I ordered was good. My tea pot leaked all over the table so that didn’t help my mood!!

We loved sitting by the fireplace in the lounge area! The room we had chosen with the Valleyview was spectacular. 👍 We were most impressed that the room we had was cleaned and fresh bed linen and of course towels replaced every day. Having the bedlinen changed every day doesn’t always happen in hotels these days.

The room was clean, the staff were excellent, and the breakfast was also excellent. We did have trouble with working the air conditioner, but staff came to fix it. We were disappointed that we didn’t have Netflix, as we did in the previous hotel we stayed in, but overall we enjoyed our stay, with the bonus spirit that took a liking to my bed!

The grandeur still exists at this iconic motel. High Tea in the afternoon is a must. The views are unforgettable. Take the time to walk the entire building and take in all the history. Apart from the amazing views the staff are also what makes this place. Warm and friendly all throughout your stay. Buffet breakfast was very enjoyable and once again you get to take in the valley views. The room was very clean and tidy. Our stay was very quiet and comfortable. Looking forward to returning one day.

This is a lovely hotel - but it could be so much more. There is evident history here but it is sorely in need of updating and redecorating. Great staff, priceless views, a very good kitchen and a welcoming lounge - all good. This is a hundred year old building so the rooms are compact at best. Would I book to stay there again - yes I would.
