Grand Hotel Sofia

There is a good opportunity to install a ramp for inclusion at the entrance to the hotel. For some reason, this option has not yet been properly implemented.

Where do l start. The rooms have controlled Thermostats but our room 308 said the temperature was 15C or 59F but it felt like 80 F degree. So we called the front desk. After arguing back and forth a girl showed up and said she was the manager. We showed her the situation and she replied lm cold which was total BS. She left and brought the real manager so after feeling the air temperature he offered to change our room but the room offered to us was number 312 right on top of a party that could be heard in the hallway or he could give us a fan. This mind you is a hotel that has a 5 star rating. So after after asking for a refund (which was denied) our choices were keep the same hot room (with a fan) or go to the noisy room. Never in our 5 nights did anyone follow up to see how we were doing. We wanted to get a massage but they are closed Saturday and Sunday. So we waited till Monday when they were open and asked for a couples massage and they replied that they only had one person to give massages so we would have to go one at a time. Again a 5 star hotel. On top of these things discribed above,on elevator threshold there was a large piece of gum it was there the 5 days we were there and is probably still there. By the way all the celebrities that they stayed there that was in the early 2000s.

Very nice hotel in central Sofia about 10 minutes walk from Serdika metro station on the line from the airport. Room and bathroom were both large with plenty of storage space though not particularly modern. A good buffet breakfast was included with hot and cold items. Plenty of eating and drinking places close by.

The hotel is over all fantastic – the rooms are very large, with all the amenities. The location of the hotel is hard to beat, very central, walkable to all the places that someone wants to visit in the city.

Great hotel in a perfect location for bars and restaurants. Hotel is dated but nice and well organised . Great food served there as well .

Excellent hotel for location, space, and functionality. May appear dated to some, however was clean, well maintained, and otherwise comfortable spacious room. Short walk to area amenities, transit, and attractions. Staff were attentive/courteous to inquiry. Would stay again for central location/access to transit and Vitosha Street.

1-It’s a great hotel. I would rate it as excellent 4 stars. As it’s not 5 starts by all accounts. 2- The location is excellent in the heart of the city and in walking distance to all attractions. 3-It’s very clean and smells really nice everywhere(rooms and communal spaces) 4- The breakfast is so basic and it’s not worth the 22€. 5- With regards to the staff( 2 male receptionist are so unhelpful and one of them is so grumpy and he wouldn’t even smile at the guest upon arrival) there was a noise nuisance (celebration of students graduation) they were beating loud drums at the door of the hotel and many guests complained about it as we couldn’t sleep for 2 days out of the 3 days stayed. The response from the receptionist was so poor and defensive, that they can’t do anything about it. I would say it’s an isolated incident as the rest of the staff are friendly.

Grand Hotel Sofia is centrally located within walking distance of many interesting attractions such as historic churches, museums, and theaters, as well as the excavated ruins of Roman Serdica, the ancient settlement below the streets of Sophia. The hotel is situated overlooking a beautiful park and the area is very clean & safe, containing many of the Bulgarian ministry buildings nearby. The rooms were big and comfortable, the restaurant, including the breakfast was top notch. The hotel has a cool 80’s retro feel about it, for example the nice wood paneling throughout the halls and fully-tiled green marble bathrooms. I’m unable to compare to other hotels in Sofia but I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Sofia. The price to value ratio was reasonable, in my opinion.

Everything was great with the exception of the fitness room. Overall, everything was excellent, but the fitness room needs an upgrade, especially the treadmill. The belts were very loose other than that, Grand Hotel Sofia is absolutely Stunning.

Excellent service as usual. It may need a little facelift, but it is more for the benefit of the picky customers. View from the room terrace was beautifully.
