Hotel Excelsior - Liburnia

The hotel needs a refresh! Carpet was thread bare and the stairs leading to the beach were in desperate need of a good cleaning. All little things that add up to a not so good rating. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Buffet breakfast was good.

STAFF The service is impeccable, attentive and extremely friendly. Nothing is a problem, everything easily and promptly sorted. ROOM Comfortable beds. We had a large one with dining area, two bathrooms, large balcony and amazing closet space. Coffee machine and pods offered. Frigobar. CONDITIONS Very clean. It is not new and has been given a very good makeover in the paintwork and decoration, but signs of age are noticeable in the bathroom facilities, broken hydro massage shower, and details in the 70s decoration around the building. LOCATION Sea front, our room had a wonderful view. Hotel has its own beach with access via several steps. 5 minutes walk from the center of the village, with restaurants, bars and ice cream shops. 10 minutes walk from a supermarket. The hotel is on the cliff, and has step free access to a beautiful oceanfront promenade. PRIVATE BEACH On the edge of the Adriatic, then cement and stones. Large number of sun beds and umbrellas. They have a small shallow beach and a large space reserved for diving directly from the edge. Lots of fish, very peaceful to float on inflatable toys. The hotel offers space to store floating toys, SUPs, etc. FOOD The buffet has mild variety, but like all buffet systems, nothing is as delicious or as good as an a la carte. But the price including dinner was an excellent value. Drinks are delicious. SPA The spa looks fantastic, spacious, airy, a giant heated pool, spacious sauna (swimming costume not allowed).

Hotel Excelsior mal vybornu polohu, hned pri mori so sukromnou plazou pre hotelovych hosti. Ubytovanie a cistota izby bola vynikajuca. Voda v mori sice bola este trochu studena, ale velkou vyhodou je interny bazen s vyhrievanou morskou slanou vodou. Vynikajuci je aj wellness. Skoda ze este nefungoval externy bazen, ktory prave rekonstruovali. Strava bola vynikajuca s dostatocne velkym vyberom. Vyborne boli aj volnocasove aktivity v hoteli - stolny tenis, biliard a rucny futbal.

Great location and love the amenities, we enjoyed the indoor swimming on really hot afternoons with our kids. The children’s club is also a main reason for our return each year. They kids club staff are multi lingual and put in an amazing effort and our kids love being there. I personally enjoyed the odd game or competition held between guests. Thank you Remi kids club for making our holidays great.

Amenities are great and staff was very kind and helpful. The property, however, is not brand new. Things were all well maintained and working, so no issues to report.

Location of the property is fantastic, close to the beach and beautiful Lungomare walkway as well as lovely town center, shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, beaches in Lovran are terrible so we had to drive to Medveja every day. Although hotel is old and built in communist style, it's interior is refurbished and it's actually very nice and modern which couldn't be said for the exterior, especially the pool. There is a lot of other amenities, we especially liked kids play area and the girl working there - she was very enthusiastic, just perfect with kids. Rooms are nice, spacious, clean and modern. Bathroom and balcony were not refurbished to the same standard unfortunately. Restaurant is very nice and spacious with large selection of food for breakfast and dinner. Food quality is satisfying, but could be better. Staff is very polite and hard working and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. We didn't use their parking because I read bad reviews about it, but there is a lot of free parking near the hotel so it wasn't a problem at all. We had a lovely stay for more than a reasonable price, definitely recommendable.
