I had a fantastic stay at De Vere Horsley estate. It is spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed. The pool was a good size, though not very deep, and perfect for a relaxing dip. I enjoyed exploring the expansive property on my own. The staff were exceptional, and the food was excellent. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!"

Perfect! Couldn't fault it at all. Room was lovely and cosy and SO clean, with everything you need. Food was great, i ordered for lunch and then had the buffet for breakfast. Staff were all really nice and helpful Really impressed and will definitely be back!

The hotel building and the grounds are lovely, but our room was very disappointing. The mattress was so soft you could feel the hard divan base when you laid on it. It was also on wheels and slid across the room at the slightest bit of movement. The bathroom was tiny and poorly maintained. There were mosaic tiles missing from the floor when we arrived and another one came up when my wife walked on it. The shower door had a large build up of grime along the bottom edge. It wasn’t an extremely expensive stay, so I wasn’t expecting 5 star, but simple maintenance, cleanliness and a comfortable bed are the absolute basics.

The positives: The hotel is nice and set in lovely grounds. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was nice. The negatives: The walls are thin, we were woken at 4am by o guests in the room next door who proceeded to talk and make noise until they left for breakfast at 8am! The mattress was very uncomfortable and needs changing, after a two night stay our backs were hurting. After the breakfast being good we tried the bar food. Well, the pizza looked like ‘pavement pizza’, unsure if the pizza oven they have in the restaurant was utilised but going by the look and taste I’d say no. But ending positively, the burger was nice.

It was disappointing that when we returned to our room at 4.30 PM it still hadn't been cleaned. When I enquired at reception I was told that I needed to appreciate there were 100 guests staying and there were 4 more rooms on the list to be cleaned before ours! In fairness, a cleaner then arrived 5 minutes later, but it was late in the day to still be servicing the rooms. The food in the bar and at breakfast were excellent. Some hotel staff were really friendly and professional, whilst others seemed very stressed by their workload and rather brisk in their manner, which was a shame.

Pictures on Hotels.com are misleading! It has pictures of the bar in grand rooms but this is in a separate building not open to the public and the bar here was only for events. These pictures should not be attached to this hotel. It’s like putting pictures of The Savoy bar on a Premier Inn site. How is this allowed.

We expected a manor house estate but we're presented with a modern redbrick hotel, albeit adjacent to a manor house. We booked a standard double. These turn out to be tiny rooms, barely bigger than a standard double bed. No room to move or sit. The cupboard wasn't really big enough to hang more than out coats. It would be fine for a solo business traveller but not for a relaxing break. On the plus side, room was clean and breakfast was good.

Small room, wardrobe filled up with ironinng board and fan, no room for clothes. Large mirror propped against wall, no room for bedside light on left side of bed. Toilet seat needed mending. Room 80. Reception difficult to access with luggage as no direct vehicular access. Hotel was advertised as a country mansion, when it turned out to be a modern building hidden away behind an older wall.

Room was disgusting. Black mould on ceiling and window frame. Icy cold and damp room, damp bedding, mattresses stained and completely unstable and broken in both rooms, blood stains on bedding, smashed tiles in bathroom, unvacumed floors with dirt, glitter and a dead bee and cobwebs all over the ceiling. We didn’t get to the room till 1am as arrived from a late flight so tried to sleep in our clothes but it took 3 hours for the room to warm up enough to sleep. We skipped breakfast and got the hell out of there asap. Hotel have refunded at my suggestion.
