Location! This was an excellent choice to walk all over Oxford, the breakfast (for a fee) was superb & met dietary restrictions. The staff and Lobby area are wonderful. My only small complaint is the general WiFi is not great, but by joining their corporate membership program, you can access a better network AND get a complimentary beverage.

The rooms were absolutely boiling. No air conditioning, flies in the hallway and lobby, very strong smell of sewage in the stairwell. Staff were okay but couldn’t help as they just offered a fan for the room that did absolutely nothing. Until they install air conditioning do not stay here in summer. May be better in winter.

Paying more than £200 for a midweek one night stay, you have certain expectations. The room was nice, the bathroom modern, the staff at check in very pleasant. We arrived during a heatwave. The room was hot (the thermostat said 26 celsius / 80F). We tried adjusting the air conditioning to cool the room, but it didn't do anything. There was a powerful fan that at least moved the air around, but no cooling. The windows were all sealed shut, even though the hotel is in a historic building and they should have been openable. Thus we sweated through the night even sleeping with the fan on and without using the comforter. The room was no cooler in the morning although it had cooled off considerably outside. Additionally the wifi was pretty poor (rhere was an option to buy better) and the coffee was Nescafe sachets. These are the kinds of things I expect in a £60 hotel room, but not in one costing three times as much.

3rd floor room, no air conditioning, ineffective fans, window not opening fully and 30 degree heat. So horribly uncomfortable we left a night early as couldn't bear another awful night. I did ask about cooler room but told hotel fully booked and offered a cooling tower. Cooling tower made no difference to room temperature. Room itself was nicely furnished, although lacked a bedside lamp on one side. Bathroom was modern but even cold water was lukewarm! A radiator on the 3rd floor was emitting heat, not great with all the eco accreditations the hotel has. Appreciate the hotel is an old coaching inn but our room was not fit for purpose in the heat. Advise to give a wide berth to this hotel in summer months. A massively disappointing stay and the first time I have ever left a hotel early. I should also mention steep stairs to get into the hotel with short metal rails - you can imagine how hot these got! Also the hotel advertised a lift but this only goes to the 2nd floor, leaving a climb up a narrow staircase to the 3rd floor.

2nd time I’ve stayed here. Asked them to preserve me breakfast and the staff said they would as I was working lates. I even paid for the breakfast. On both occasions the day staff denied I ever had that conversation with the night shift. Really poor communication and very little compassion. Left feeling scammed out of quite a bit of money.

Room was very tired and poorly maintained. Dirty bathroom inner door handle area very off putting. The unexplained and off hand apology after fire alarm (false alarm) went off after 10:30pm was not okay. Overall would not stay here again. Overpriced, under-delivered.

I wasnt in the main building which wasnt an issue Cleanliness was the major issue i had with my room as it was very dusty in certain parts. Whilst i was in the shower, i found water leaked from the front (soaking the bathroom floor). The lift didnt work upon my arrival, which was an inconvenience with my luggage.

Value for money hotel. Perfect location close to city centre. Kind and friendly staff. Room was very small with a view of a brick wall but ok if you just wanted a room to sleep in. Clean but could do with a little more attention the detail in places. Very comfortable bed and good shower with nice toiletries. Room also had a fan, fridge, kettle which was useful. Good breakfast selection, issue with hot food was quickly resolved when highlighted to staff. Overall it was good value and I would stay again.

The room was dirty , dirty pillowcase left on the floor! No cleaning done prior to our arrival No matress topper on one of the beds No replacement of toilet paper No soap refill We put our used towels to be replaced on the floor of the bathroom.. we When we came back after our day out , the DIRTY towels were replaced back on the towel rails!!! This was not acceptable at all .. There was no ramp to get our suitcases up the steps into the hotel reception door way . We found this a struggle and no staff on hand to help.
